Should still have the Palmer money as well, though that may have gone on pay offs.

Assume this to be the case or the cost of the new staff as none of the new three would be cheap by any stretch

Absolutely ridiculous deal. Apparently due to the manager connection.

Lampard needs to do the same. Probably not this season but for next season. Sunderland in a good position for a promotion push.

Same value as Vik then, puts Sunderland on a level with Sporting potentially?

That’s not the case.

Bournemouth enquired about Simms. Some conversation about Billing whilst it was being discussed.

What could have been if we'd beat Luton that day.... Ipswich about to sign Philogene! It's quite literally a different league once you get up, financially. Luton about to sign Isiah Jones too, good player!

Yes, I guess my point is that financially teams go into a different league. Luton have spent badly, spending 15m on that McGuinness! But they have a stadium to fund.

If we'd have gone up and back down, we'd be in such a different spot financially.

So in summary….

Our players are all shit and no other club would want them, we have wasted all the money. How could Robins or Lampsrd make anything of this shower ?!!?

However …..

We have Sheaf, MVE, Kitchin, Láti, Binks, Wright all targets from higher based clubs, prepared in most cases to give us more than we paid for them.

Confusing times.

They, sensibly, funded a stadium rather than buying anything that moved just because they had a shit load of cash. Like King did.

To be fair to King, could we even of bought the stadium if we have all the funds to Ashley? Unless we want to open up the old stadium plans

I’ve heard that he’s “on a list” for Sheff Utd. And in my words, there are targets also on the list that you would surely pick ahead of him like Omabamidele.

Biggest summer balls up was signing BTA instead of a CM . The urgency of the CM issue was obvious to virtually everyone with the exception of those responsible for recruitment and final purchase decisions.

This assumes it was a case of either/or. Was there no money for a midfielder or did we just fail to bring one in? At the time we brought BTA a lot on here thought we were desperate for a striker to replace Golden so if anything Bassette was the mistake. Personally I think the club assumed/gambled that Gyokeres and Hamer would move but that is just me speculating.

I phrased this rather badly. The meaning was that the money spent on BTA was wasted as he is both shit and was not needed . Better to have those funds for elsewhere in the side

maybe they thought we didn’t need another midfielder ?, we recruited in the summer to play 433. Eccles, sheaf , torp Allen rudoni and guess they didn’t bank on palmer leaving ? competing for 3 spots, guess they thought that would be enough

I think you can only assume one of two strikers last season were for sale and something went wrong?

Yeah TBF I might have looked into loaning him out the instant Bassette came in. They might have done for all I know though. I actually think he is better than most make out and might have had his moments in the run in were we playing for anything but respect your view and agree the squad has no balance.

Maybe, but idk. I would have thought we would have replaced Simms or Wright with a bigger signing. My guess is that BTA came in as Godden's replacement and then Bassette came along and was considered too good an opportunity to turn down.

I think it is clear (despite what DK might have said) that we must have been looking for a midfielder in addition to what we had. Robins certainly gave that impression and we were linked with (at least) two. Sometimes things just don't work out.

Would be madness to let any of our CBs go without bringing in at least another one ourselves.
