He'll only have 12 months left on his contract, my guess would be somewhere around 2, possibly 2.5 million

19 years old at the time and playing as a regular.

Teams pay a lot for potential, Hamer will be 25 come the summer window with a year on his contract and he's had an up and down season.

Clearly not fit when he got subbed off (v Brum?). Not a good decision for him to play, whether that be his or MR's decision. I hate starting players who are carrying knocks.

I think if we doubled our money at this stage, it's probably a fair deal. Would I be happy with 2 million, absolutely not. But i'm also realistic, he's nearing 25, the second half of last season he was dreadful and whilst he's shown flashes of brilliance this year, for me he's failed to deliver.

He is 20 (19 at the time of the bids) & wanted by Premier League & Bundesliga teams. A lot of that fee will be as he is seen as having untapped potential.

It is also misguided to judge players on their one or two games a season against us. I remember Bellingham getting pelters after our cup games against Birmingham a couple of years ago but now look at him. On the other side I remember people delighted that we signed Clayton Ince and Michael McIndoe after playing well against us.

We are a worse team without him and the chances of our owners investing all that 2 million to even attempt to adequately replace him is non existent. So I'd rather keep than sell on for that, personally.

Then we end up losing him for nothing and definitely having nothing to put back into the squad

Wait so have we ruled out him extending his contract? I hadn't. But yes, of course 2 mil is better than nothing at all.

Based on his comments about wanting to test himself at a higher level I think he'd likely refuse.

We won't sell anyone this January unless a ridiculous offer comes in (for who though?).
If Mcfadz was 10 years young and playing like this he'd be off somewhere, his form and quality is insane!

Hed be getting terrible advice then (wouldn’t be the first), he’s getting nowhere near the Prem on current showings.

I get you but I'm not convinced he'd get a higher level than the Championship right now.

Not beyond the realms of possibility though that another Championship side pick him up at double the wage he gets here plus a healthy signing on bonus. That’s the main concern for me, and if he isn’t signing a contract imminently then it may be best to move him on and get some funds at least.

Edit: although quite possible we have a year option in our favour. After all, that’s what we tend to do now.

Best he can hope for is linking up with van Bronckhorst at Rangers and getting some European games.

I notice several PL clubs are recalling players they have on loan as they aren't getting enough game time
Possibly a few opportunities for us there?

I wonder if we'll do the same to be honest. I'd argue only Jack Burroughs loan has been classed as 'successful' so far.

Billson back fit now so has to muscle the other guy out the way.

I was listening to this subject on Talksport the other day I’m sure I heard clubs can re-call loaned out players if they have played less than 5O% of games if it’s over 50% they can’t break the deal if it’s a season long line.

That can’t be right cos Giles has played 21 times for Cardiff.

Utter nonsense (not surprised if it was on Talksport).
That may happen in very specific, one off circumstances where it's part of the original deal, but generally parent clubs can do what they like so long as a recall clause is included.

Dion Sanderson & Ryan Giles have played far more than 50% of games at Birmingham/Cardiff respectively before being recalled & Wolves also recalled Theo Corbeanu from Sheff Wednesday as they weren't happy with the position & role he was being asked to play.

Most are because the lads aren't playing
All the loans will have their own conditions allowing for recall if the player is fit but not getting minutes

Cardiff are in talks with Dijon over Jonathan Panzo. We were linked last season, wonder if we're still interested, or if we're happy with JCS

Strange career to date, left Chelsea for first team football but struggled to get in the side everywhere he’s been.

Not sure that’s fair. He’s been injured most of this season and played 22 games last season in the top division. He’s only 21.

I’d have him here, but likely out of our price range as he’d want paying a wage.
