Jamie Allen (3 Viewers)

I was thinking about Jamie Allen after he came on and did well the other day. What a great guy he is to have around. He doesn't seem to complain or get pissy when he doesn't play and seems happy to come on late in the game and always plays ok. People get annoyed because he's quite basic but he is so consistant when he plays.

Nobody's favourite player, I wonder if anyone has his name on their shirt? I don't really know what his personality is like apart from one drunken video at a Christmas party a couple of years back?

This is now his 7th season and plays a fair amount of games each year. 30 years old, he's still here and still getting some game time to contribute to the promotion push.

He chatted my wife up at that party, and it wasn’t even grab a granny night. Haven’t got his name on my shirt… :D

Every season I always think that he's been a good servant but we've moved on beyond him now and need to upgrade to take that next step and then every season we get to a point we need him and then he makes me look silly.

Trains hard, good character, good squad player, experienced too and never complains when not in the side. A squad needs players like Allen. Reminds me a bit of OGS at United, not in terms of play but happy to play that part and he gave them one of their greatest moments in history. Be really nice if Allen could score the goal that seals promotion.

Always brings energy when he comes on, also has some real quality. that curved through ball to to set Haji free to t up BTA was great.

Ideal squad player for a team like us. Won't moan, won't let you down and won't break the bank.

I remember when he first started playing for us in L1. Scored a very tidy goal down at Bristol Rovers and came up with some great assists (v Sunderland comes to mind). Not great in our first season back in the championship. But since then has been a great player for 20-30 games each year at 7/10 performance level. His display v Sunderland last season will live long in the memory.

Think he will have a meaningful part to play versus Charlton considering our injuries.

Didn't he appear in full kit whilst drinking somewhere at a promotion party? (And no it wasn't upstairs in Mcdonalds at a kids party)

Really? Shocked by that

Good player that helped us get promoted from league 1 and in championship he's a good squad player who has over achieved through hard work. Don't wanna see him starting too much but clearly a good option from bench sometimes.
Yeah I’d agree with that. To be fair to him he probably knows his place and will not get another gig like this again. Wilson similarly but both have more than played their part in our rise.

I very much doubt he will be here next year so let's enjoy it and send him off with a monumental achievement.

My 7 year old lad has his name on his shirt. Absolutely loves him. When I broke the news to him this is probably his last season with us, it really upset him 😪

One little story about Jamie Allen from me. My best mate works with a fella who is mates with Jamie Allen.
When my mate was coming over to Melbourne for my wedding as best man he asked his mate if Jamie Allen could get anything from Cov for me.
Jamie Allen organised a shirt and got it signed by the whole 22/23 squad - he’s a legend in my books. Didn’t know me or my mate at all but went to this effort.
He seems to love playing for Cov and is clearly a positive effect on his teammates.

Can’t remember who it was but someone in the Middlesbrough thread said he looked like a Sunday league player, despite Allen being pivotal in us regaining control of the game. Baffling the disrespect really

When we went to Rochdale away, we met his dad in the pub and he came to the game on our coach iirc! I'd had two shandies, so my memory was/is a bit iffy! Jamie is a Rochdale lad, for context.

He is one of a few players id love to see get success with the club, completely deserving of the fans support. Top pro and a player we need this season to stay fit and be ready to play a role.

Never let us down and not someone you could ever accuse of lack of effort when putting on the shirt. Been a very good signing for the club.

I'd honestly give him a new contract whatever league we are in next year.

There are some things you can't buy with prem riches alone and he possesses many of those qualities.

I think he plays a great role for the team, comes on for the final ten minutes to be busy, retain the ball and close the opposition down. Those who moan about him coming on or say his passing is simple or negative are clueless imo. He’s played a crucial role in closing games out recently, or helping us get a foothold in midfield in the last 10 vs Middlesbrough. No, he’s not a world beater and not great to have as a stater, but a great squad player. I think he’d be worth an extra year no matter the league… would help keep the team culture going if there’s an influx of new players.
