Wasn't great before this spell out of the team but thought we might have seen a sub cameo at some point.

Anyway

Who would you play, him or Shipley?

Neither...play 2 upfront. Problem solved.

If we were to play 2 attacking midfielders we need to look at bringing someone in. Marcus Browne may be available for a loan move in January according to the papers up north and I’d quite like to see him come in and challenge/play alongside O’Hare.

Edit: would also give us an option to change to a formation with wingers if necessary.

I think he'll be better than he has been as a sub for O'Hare behind 2 strikers.

I actually thought Allen's best game of the season was when he played deeper as one of the two holding midfielders (can't remember who against, Swansea maybe? Not sure)

He isn't good enough at this level, nor is Shipley.

If you play Shipley he's generally more anonymous and gives the ball away a lot, but does carry a bit of a goal threat.

If you play Allen he has no goal threat and doesn't look likely to pick up an assist, but he's a bit more involved and can cause a bit of a nuisance popping up between the lines.

Neither option is great.

I think he’s been slightly hard done by, he played the opening 4/5 games and he wasn’t great but nobody was, he ended last season as one of the first names of the team sheet and he’s still ahead of Shipley for me, the fact robins didn’t bring him on yesterday is worrying though.

Allen runs about a lot but doesn't retain the ball very well at this level, maybe its just a step too far for him! But to be honest the way Shipley is playing atm I would play anyone ahead of him

Never really rated Allen ok at league 1 level but he’s never a championship player, prefer us to play Giles ahead of Allen & Shipley tbh not sure why he’s not getting any time.

Browne would be a good signing hopefully we can move some players on.

Wouldn't have either of them as more than the bench. Decent enough squad players to fill in if necessary but not up to this level regularly on the looks of it. Games pass them by despite the running.

On the whole I'd probably prefer to see one player in who'd be more effective. I've got a lot of time for both of them but if that was something we could do I wouldn't hesitate to move them on and wish them every success in the future. There must be league one teams who'd love players like them in their team playing regularly.

We need to sell him or loan him out in Jan and get someone else. The championship isn’t his level. Good L1 player.

He's still behind Julian Gray in the pecking order.
