If we want to renew someone like MVE he’ll be asking for that kind of money, and if we don’t pay it someone else will.
I’m saying he’s worth it now. You said no one in the squad is worth it. He’s a better and more established player than when he signed- as are most of them. But we haven’t renewed MvE, he’s on the original contract. So I’ll ask again who in the squad would you have paid that to?

How much do you think the Wolf is earning?... he's not the highest paid player by the way.But we haven’t renewed MvE, he’s on the original contract. So I’ll ask again who in the squad would you have paid that to?

I would hazard a guess at GrimesWho is earning the most?
Chances created is of course one metric, but if it’s as simple as you present, why is he below everyone else? Now do successful dribbles, he’s behind EMC, Rudoni, MVE and even Esse has half his tally in 3 league games. We can rinse and repeat this all day when it comes to xG and shots taken and so on.Chance createdyou can pass the ball to someone 40 yards out and they hit a speculative shot and that's classed as a key pass/chance created.
Even if you want to go by chance created, per 90 Dasilva and Sakamoto are both on 1.4, only Torp and Grimes (both set piece takers) and EMC have better chances created per 90. Well if you exclude Raphael who averages 7.7 per 90.
xA is a better metric as it's the quality of chances Only Grimes (a set piece takers) has an xA better than Sakamoto's. And if your taking xA per 90 Sakamoto is the highest in the team.
No one has created more big chances (8) than Sakamoto.
You moan about Sakamoto but he's only 2 behind EMC in terms of goal contributions, and only Simms, BTA and Wright are ahead of EMC.
You love putting the boot into Sakamoto at every opportunity.
I fancy that Haji would be on the most. Got to be up there surely?I would hazard a guess at Grimes
You said none of our current squad are worth 32k a week! Are you OK? And you’re claiming I’m losing the plot. Read the thread through again and see if you can work out where you got lost.
I bet they all have more successful dribbles per game than David Beckham ever did.Chances created is of course one metric, but if it’s as simple as you present, why is he below everyone else? I’ve pointed out xA is where he’s been consistently strong but overall, he’s pretty weak statistically in other categories and that’s why Lampard has signed Esse to replace him.
It’s not putting the boot in, we needed a better player at RW and Esse is quickly proving the point I was making all season. If we’ve just spent €5m on a player who plays RW as well as Esse, it paints the picture that Lampard doesn’t rate Sakamoto quite as highly as you or others because I view him as a solid role player rather than being the main man.
If you followed my posts on this, I’ve supported moving Sakamoto to either LW/AM to leverage his best asset which is his crossing.I bet they all have more successful dribbles per game than David Beckham ever did.
Just reminded me who came off the bench to two match winning goal involvements in our last two home games? Neither will be classed as a "chance created" in the stats
Yes, I've heard that Nigel Farage has joined the recruitment teamYou want a right winger we've got one to spare...
You said none of our current squad are worth 32k a week!
So we've gone from never heard of him, to why are we signing another winger, he cost £5m, we've wasted all our budget on him, nobody else is coming in, he's on high wages, we've had our pants pulled down over the fee, Sakamoto won't be getting any game time, Rudoni is leaving, the recruitment team are shite again .....
OR he could actually turn out ok, we might not have spent anything like £5m on him, he could be one for the future as an upgrade on Raphael, we own him, we might still have other targets and this is just one under the radar that's been announced.
I like that it went in quickly and quietly, generally how we've done lots of our business and I'm sure a few smoke screens with the targeted links.
Keep the faith, we will be fine with or without new signings and once the window has passed, we've beaten QPR and Oxford, we'll be heading into the Boro game clear at the top and full of confidence.

I agree, but it’s hard to see how you could reasonably expect this guy to come in and start contributing straight away given his playing history.Agree with a lot of that but on no planet is a 23 year old “one for the future”.
Sure I’ve read Da Silva is 5, 7 somewhere….looks more like 4 ft 7” on a bad day.Where I’ve looked says 5 ft 7

He looks quite a big strong unit (for a winger) in the clips.Where I’ve looked says 5 ft 7
I guess that depends on if we plan to move on Sakamoto but it is a bit odd as you say.I agree, but it’s hard to see how you could reasonably expect this guy to come in and start contributing straight away given his playing history.
The whole thing is a bit of a head scratcher, at least until any of us actually see him play!
