You see MVE shouting at the wingers all the time. They need to track back and unless we score more goals than have ever been scored before like the first part of the season it will fuck us.
Mve is lucky compared to jds. The amount of times they broke on the counter down the left and jds was trying to cover and watch the full back while emc stood there or strolled into the centre circle.

Roy Keane said it yesterday. Stop being scared of the challenge and embrace it.
I was just thinking exactly this. It’s the opportunity of all their careers and they look fed up, nervous, jaded, and petulant. Beginning of season they looked like they were thriving. You can understand a bit of nerves but seem to have gone completely to pot.

Not sure that's right. I think Esse is too attacking for our lineup pulls everyone out of position.

I have to be honest, if we do actually bottle this I will be done with football for a long time.

You live for seasons like this and to see it being pissed away against shite teams because Doug is doing this on the cheap or because Lampard is committing tactical hari kiri, it’s inexcusable.
The last month has drained all my enthusiasm for watching us play. The most frustrating thing is we can all see the problems but the people at the club either don't or haven't done anything to address them.

Teams have figured out how to play against us. We cannot play like we did the first few months of the season.

We have to do a Sunderland and change how we approach games. Get everyone behind the ball when we defend and don't give teams an inch.

Speaking of Sunderland, their form went off a cliff too and the good football they were playing evaporated like what we’re seeing now. They got away with it in the playoffs.

I don’t think we will.

Leicester also did a few years ago. It happens. You have to go back to basics. Honestly hindsight sure but set up tonight not to get beat and let our 'class' upfront win it.

Im gonna have nightmares about that gaping hole in our midfield. How FL is content with us playing an away championship game against a team in form, like that...Honestly if I was Gurney id ask him. Because.im genuinely curious how they think this is okay

That's been plenty of goals where mve is out of position or doesn't track back himself.

The system is designed for MvE to be up the pitch he’s not just doing it off his own back

The reason Sunderland got their act together is they stopped playing the free-flowing football as teams worked out how to beat them (us beating them 3-0 for example). They then changed how they approached games and were extremely well organised. If we could keep clean sheets, we have the players to win games through moments of magic. Our midfield, sadly get bypassed and our defence simply aren't top 2 quality.

They went on a wretched run right into the playoffs and being blunt, got lucky against both us and Sheff Utd.

Spot on. Hard to beat, trust our forward players. Don't play 6 forwards with a fatigued grimes holding the tidal wave of attacks back

3 questions for Lampard

1. Why take of Esse for Sakamoto and BTA for Eccles? Sakamoto for BTA fine with Esse at 10 amd Sakamoto on the right makes sense. Eccles in the 10 role doesn't.
2. Why take off Haji when he is playing well? Felt like a scripted sub
3. Why don't we vary the formation to 442 or 532 in games when we are struggling to create chances?

It's not all on Frank at all as Kitching has to do better defensively and so does EMC and Eccles with their headers and it's a different outcome. I just looked at the form table and last 6 games we are 16th.

To all the I'm done with football posts, because of tonight........really? Frustrating yes. But it's one game out of hundreds following City (more like thousands). As chumbawotshisface said 'I get knocked down....' PUSB and feck anyone who says otherwise.

Eccles has played in the 10 plenty and we’ve generally done well

Haji was playing ok, don’t think he was anything special thoug

442 wouldn’t have helped, the main issue was absolutely no control in midfield. And obviously he’s not going to bring on a CB when chasing the game.

I've praised Lampard recently for his pragmatism, he really needs to show it again now. Setting up like that away from home against an in form side was suicidal.

That said...
Let's not get carried away & throw the baby out with the bathwater. It only needs tweaks & ideally another incoming to strengthen.

People are talking about losing faith in the manager, sub-20,000 crowds next season, being done with football etc…..when we’re eight points clear of third?
