We mix in different fan circles.

I never overreact. And it was the same for the other four guys I had season tickets with.

Maybe it's a generation thing.

I remember year after year where we seemed certain to go down, but always pulled it out of the bag, so I have always believed in us and our ability to win games, where it looks like we have little chance of winning.

We also have known that we DO have very good players here, some who were badly out of form, but form isn't permanent. You can be in form, then have a bad spell, before then having a good spell again.

Even when we were really struggling this season, I could see the ability we had out there and was always confident we could turn it round..

Everyone is different of course, but I never overreact, whatever is happening on the pitch.

I admit this season to feeling a sense of desperation that ive never felt before

Not trying to turn this around into some sort of emotional dribble but its the truth

My dads entering his 70s and my kids are getting older and i have this desperate need to see us all watch city in the top flight again before its too late

Yes the fact people can’t see how poor the results were says it all. More bothered about point scoring, suggests a real complex is at play!

Oh no don’t make me go looking at old posts!

Go ahead. Be my guest.

If you look at any match threads for instance, I don't think I have ever said "game over" when the opposition has scored. I have never said "FFS" when we have let goals in.

I am much more of a "oh well" guy.

Hmmmm, the results were and I can understand the frustration, especially with some of the sloppy defending but anyone watching the games would’ve seen we deserved a fair few more points than the form table would’ve shown. Like there’s been times this season when we maybe deserved less than we got. There’s got to be some perspective and context

Off the top of my head Oxford, Charlton, Preston, even blues where some of our defending was dreadful (and even Rushworth was beaten near post) we deserved more points. Southampton was an amazing point under the circumstances and if ref has given the Wright pen would’ve probably been more. It just wasn’t going our way

I said it at the time but fans at the Oxford game showed an entitlement that I just don’t like. Grumbles on here are always going to happen (some meltdowns unnecessary) fans were right, we needed to tighten up especially when leading, but at games the fans need to get behind the team.

Yes.

When Man U beat us and that goal was disallowed, I was just sad and when Dabo missed that pen against Luton I said went "Oh well, that's me off home then " and I went and caught the tube.

You know there is a saying "don't get mad, get even", well my version of that is "don't get mad, go and sit on a corner and sulk a little bit."

Yeah. I sort of get it. It's just not me, so I have never quite got my head around it. I think having a beer can make people more emotional and reactionary too can't it

I remember that once I sat next to a bloke who had a ST, for two seasons. Didn't know him, but he used to sit there emotionless for the entire match every time

Never clapped, never cheered , even when we scored. He would just sit in his seat. Wouldn't budge, didn't even smile

Just sat for the entire 90 mins, with zero reaction to anything

Very odd

I’ll be delighted for all Cov fans when/if we get promoted, but doubly so for fans like you pal, because you’ve been there through it all, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen you in the away end or on coaches, or whatever else.

You’ve put in the hard yards over the years and promotion would be a perfect gift for you in return

Walking away from the Boro game I felt it a bit odd how some of the fans who literally booed the team off after drawing against Oxford would have been joining in the fist pumps and 'we are top of the league' chants. But football fans by and large are always fickle and if we lose on Saturday you'll probably see it again.

People wrote 'pathetic' when I spoke about possibly taking a break from football if we don't go up, then you get the usual 'ah but what about if we were losing every week in the Prem'. I have been going to games for nearly 30 years, season ticket for 25. Nobody commits to a club like this for that long if they're only interested in success. When you see signs that it's going to be 'the' season, and then see a very real possibility that it will be tossed away in a manner no other team has ever managed before, it would be a huge kick in the balls and I defy anybody to say it wouldn't be.

We go up and get whipped every week you won't see complaints from me. This club is at its best when it has a siege mentality and is a plucky underdog. That's what drew me in in the first place.

But that's not what a lot on here were saying. They were saying we had "bottled it" and it was "all over" and we would have to settle for play-offs, if we were lucky. Some of the drivel here from grown men was truly pathetic.

Yeah it’s a bit silly. But bollocks to it. Better being in meltdown over football than real life. Makes the good times better as well being an emotional wreck every season/game/kick.

I think ultimately its normal to be emotional. Emotional during the game, for a bit after the game. Frustration at a poor run, again, normal. Having players you like and some you aren't that keen on, again totally normal.
What was truly eye rolling was the turning on the whole group of players AGAIN. People seem to hate this group yet its likely to be the group that gives us our best achievement probably since winning the FA Cup. Also the turning on Lampard who has been phenomenal. I hope he stays a very long time personally, absolutely love the bloke.

Some people turned on the man who saved the club. No one else has a chance after that but it's a small minority.

Or should that be, 2 small minorities.

It wasn't the form it was the absolute headloss from many on here e.g.
The players don’t have the mentality, fight, passion to do this. Been evident for months.

Then we go and put in two performances full of fight and passion v Boro and SU, and everything looks great again.

It's like some people have never watched a season of football before.

That's what bothers me as well. Criticising performances that were poor for a while is warranted, but you get comments like hoping Bobby Thomas never plays for the club again, Wright/Simms is a disgrace to the shirt, sack Lampard now, etc. Drives me mad.

This was the weird bit. The vitriol some people have for certain players - Wright being the prime example - is so strange.

He gets almost no credit in the bank for putting in good performances to get us to a good place, but as soon as he puts in a few bad ones he is the #1 scapegoat and needs to be sold. He's still on to score 20 odd goals this season.

He didn't score for months. Do you really think that shouldn't be discussed? Because that's mental.

All just a bit of gentle jibing at the end of the day, we're all friends (sort of) and even some of the biggest shit wafflers on here have redeeming qualities, with a couple of exceptions. Seriously though, just accept Lampard is great and stop fighting it, you'll all be much happier.
