We simply do not deserve to be even in the top 6 based on our last 10 games form.

Yep. Only Wright, Simms and Rudi cost more in the squad. TBF number 10 is Woolfenden.

I would argue that if you're thinking that Onyeka is the catalyst, then so could Esse, BTA, or Wright actually going on a run of form.

It's never about one player, however I do think he could lead by example, in training and then in games and in that sense could act as a catalyst to get us out of this malaise.

But it could all just be as simple of we had a lucky run, everything went for us and we are now finding our true level in this league.

This is what I’m clinging to. Lampard said he was quiet in the dressing room but I’m hoping he’s all action on the pitch and that sets an example. It’s a straw to grasp at at least. It’s just the fact we need to drop one of our set piece takers for him that worries me.

No, not at all. Disagree

He's played international football and it n the top leagues in Germany and England. He comes with pedigree.

We don't actually have to change that much. We have been kamikaze like throwing bodies forward and leaving gaps at the back and we have lacked energy and a real ball winner

It's not pinning our hopes on him. It's just saying it's logical to think he will improve us

I wouldn't worry about that, when was the last time we scored from a set piece?

I’d argue we don’t throw people forward, we are one dimensional, tip tap tip tap around the back (conceded quite a few goals doing this with poor passing) we then are looking to pass out to the wings, get to the final third of the box and then look clueless.

pass back and across the back again, it’s rinse repeat rinse repeat

we are a team now lacking confidence and ideas when attacking, possessional play is doing us no favours, when was the last time we played through the middle apart from in the dying minutes of added time? We lack the killer pass through the centre of the pitch, we have strikers that do scare defenders when they run at them

ultimately we have been sussed out, no plan B and has now become boring to watch as we look clueless, even the team spirit appears to have gone

that’s a job for Frank, this is where he earns his money, this will make or break his managerial career.

I mean fair recently, but also it’s been one of our biggest strengths over the season. Can’t find stats online so feel free to post evidence to the contrary but I’m sure Sky had us like 50% ahead of the next team.

The two fullbacks are often caught out right up the other end of the pitch, so we do throw them forwards

Well its blind if there's no logical reasoning behind it. That's literally what it means.

I'm hopeful, but I'm not optimistic. And that's based on what I want to happen rather than what events of the past few months indicate will happen.

We will have to agree to disagree.

He was just the sort of player we were saying we needed.

Let's see what happens on Monday.

Do you think Wright, Rudoni, Grimes, Torp, Kitching, Thomas, MvE etc can play better than they have done at various times in recent weeks ?

If the answer is yes then it’s not straw clutching. I think they’ve all got better levels than the last month or two. Whether it’s confidence, form, fitness, set up etc it’s just not happened for them recently.

Add Onyeka, BTA, Esse to the mix and I don’t think it’s crazy to think we can regain better form. Thats not cope, that’s just belief that we’ve got some very good players

I think this puts too much on individuals when the entire squad has lost form together. My concern is Lampard and this squad in general doesn’t have a great record of arresting slides. We had one great run of form post Xmas last year and one pre Xmas this year. Big questions as to whether he can get another out of us.

Torp, got serious doubts about his stamina.

Thomas, got big worries about him and his discipline, his recent sending off and booking sent out massive alarm bells.

Rudoni, I think his injury has had a massive affect on him.
But yes, they can all play better, but they all need to up their game ASAP, we've lost our wriggle room and I don't see what's going to spark them.

I keep saying, not too concerned about Monday, I think we'll be OK, it's on the road, we've been abysmal.

Yup

Some of these are very good players

Are we just expecting them to keep playing under par for the rest of the season?

Form comes and goes. Unfortunately, MVE, Torp and Rudoni, who were looking top players earlier on, now are playing like shadows of themsleves.

Not quite the same as they didn't have a massive lead but Ipswich 23/24 had been 2nd since September, dropped to 4th on 3rd February after 1 win in 9. I remember it being a 4-way battle between them, Leicester, Leeds and Southampton.

Just went back to that date on their forum (why yes I am unemployed atm, how could you tell?) and it's eerily similar to on here - threads called "Forget a bad run of form, this is a concerning now", "Good-bye top two, nice knowing you", accusations of bed-wetting, people looking for the positives and being called delusional.

It's happened before and has now happened to us but it's not over. Plenty of twists and turns to come. It might not look like we can string a few wins together but I bet it didn't to them either.
