Institutionally speaking, it’s a Christian country. The head of state has to be an Anglican and the heads of the Church of England automatically get a seat in the House of Lords etc. But in cultural terms, church attendance plummeted after lockdown and has never really recovered.

Yeah ok then

To become a Christian, one must first accept the love of God and confess their sins. This acceptance is a personal decision that involves recognizing the need for a Savior and trusting in Jesus Christ as the Lord and Savior. The journey of becoming a Christian is marked by faith, repentance, and a commitment to live out one's faith in daily life. It is not about attending church regularly or following certain traditions, but about having a personal relationship with God and reflecting His character in one's actions and words
Amen.

It’s to encourage us to recognise that Iran in the 70’s was a similar place to the uk but it’s not been long since we imprisoned and forced sterilisation on homosexuals leading to many suicides
It’s just to encourage humility rather than arrogance that’s all

It’s from the national census. What’s the sample size on this?

Is it arrogant to point out that another country does that? I think it's more that some seem reluctant to accept it because it means their fight for the causes end up confused.

The census data also shows that the percentage of the population identifying as Christian is collapsing, and the number of people identifying as having no religion is surging even faster.

Would not be surprising at all if ‘No religion’ is the largest single group at the next census.

You think people are unaware that Iran murdered its citizens for protesting about its government?

To be fair when jd Vance says stupid stuff about how the uk is anti democratic you maybe have a point and simplicity is the answer

Iran is not democratic
Iran brutally represses disagreement
Iran has a Islamic cleric leading the country who’s opinions on women is abhorrent and leads to subjugating them and not allowing education

However there are more governments that are not democratic than democratic

And we are left with what makes Iran any different and the answer is penalty oil as most of the wars in the Middle East

You can argue the toss that they fund terrorism but we all know you cannot bomb an idea into non existence

Iran was not a danger to the USA fundamentally this is illegal.

We’ll see what happens but the end doesn’t justify the means it’s mad

I'm under attack in Dubai - but forgot my Mounjaro pen in Chichester

Usually, when I wake on a Monday morning in the Middle East, I fling open the balcony doors and let the sun flood before basking in the view of a championship golf course.

Choosing to organise a rumble at a monastery rather than a pub car park actually shows a profound commitment to Christian values.

Probably

They already killed everyone at a meeting a few days ago of 80 top Iranians that were apparently convening to decide the next leader.

Those lads really need to learn how to set up a Teams call.

They don’t seem to have any plan whatsoever.

Well, the plan was to kill Khamenei, bomb Iran for a few days and then regime change would magically occur. But that hasn’t happened (yet) and now they don’t seem to have any clear objective or plan.

So now they’re resorting to arming Kurds and trying to get them to carry out a ground invasion into Iran.

There are widespread bombings throughout the Middle East.

Gas and oil prices have surged, stock markets have tumbled. Global supply chain is disrupted (Strait of Hormuz closed).

They’re telling their citizens to leave the Middle East but are offering no assistance to help them.

So you've decided to ignore the 'turn the other cheek' message.

I do so enjoy it when people of faith decide that scripture is something they can pick and choose the bits they want to follow.

Think I've read that before, or something similar. Its interesting stuff and a perfect illustration that its far more nuanced than some people would like you to believe.

I suspect for a lot of us if we think of the Islamic Revolution we don't think of things such as it leading to an increased number of women attending university or women staging pro-hijab rallies.

In the light of current events quite telling to see an article from 2019 state "The Americans and the British have a long history in Iran of attempting to both influence and take over oil in Iran, so this deep-rooted mistrust of the US and UK goes back a long way."

As ever there's no easy answers. The actions of the government in killing tens of thousands of protesters is abhorrent but why are the US, and almost inevitably at some point the UK, getting involved once again when we all know the track record with enforcing regime change in that region. What is the criteria for intervention? Its certainly not the safety of a countries general population as events in Palestine show.

The scriptures and the Bible as I understand it are just a collection of thoughts of individual apostles when they went to various parts of the globe to spread Christianity.

There is no actual definition of faith other than a belief of an existence beyond death.

You talk total nonsense on this topic.
