It's a real worry. I signed up for X again last week out on curiosity and all I get is right wing propogranda even though in not following anyone like that

It's clear what Elon musk is doing and so so many people are falling for it. I see it in schools with kids and parents.

I have deactivated already

Not a clue mate, don't really keep a close watch on the behaviour of various teams around the world and, unlike many on here who seem to have been following their every move closely, Maccabi Tel Aviv hadn't registered on my radar at all before they came up on here. Having said that it didn't take much research to find several things of concern, not least that the owners of the club appear to endorse the racism in their fan base.

But nobody is claiming they are the worst hooligans in Europe are they? As has been pointed out on this thread they aren't the first, and no doubt won't be the last, club to have restrictions but on their supporters. They aren't even the first club to have visiting supporters banned this season, where's the hundreds of outraged posts about Eintracht fans being banned from Napoli?

The point I was making is I mind it highly unlikely that the SAG and WMP, who have been happily rounding up anti-genocide protesters, have suddenly decided that all jews should be banned from Villa Park. I think its far more likely, as we have experienced ourselves, that a risk assessment has been done and a decision made on that basis.

Do find it slightly odd that after people are making claims of anti-semitism being behind this decision while conflating all jews, Israel, the IDF and ultras. The favoured definition of anti-semitism that people have been pushed to be adopted states that is anti-semitic but increasing that seems to be getting ignored.

I don’t support any football fans being banned because the authorities should be on top of it. In any case, the UK has hosted team with much worse reputations of hooliganism and in the case of Turkish football fans, clubs who have killed English fans abroad (Galatasary).

In this specific context, it’s clear the concerns of ‘the political environment’ has trumped the concerns over hooliganism. That is as clear as day. Birmingham has elected sectarian MPs, one of whom celebrated the SAGs decision.

Why have you quoted the definition of antisemitism? It’s one thing to conflate British Jewish people as Israeli. Quite another to say banning Israeli football fans is an act targeting Jews when Tel Aviv is a city that is 90% Jewish.

On your comments regarding Tel Aviv hooliganism in Amsterdam last year, your narrative doesn’t fit the facts on the ground:

62 people arrested; 49 Dutch, 10 Israelis and all 5 hospitalised were Israeli. The local authorities decried ‘Jew hunting’ on the streets of Amsterdam.

Of course most people nicked were dutch - it's far easier to round up the visitors and get them on the plane home than to arrest them all. The videos of the Tel Aviv fans' behaviour were widely shared.

It'll be good for the UK to see the mentality of your average working class Israeli

If we cut to the chase , the reason their fans have been banned is because the local authorities cant guarantee their safety because birmingham has a very large muslim population that will probably be out for blood .

100% disagree.

I understand a small bit of Arabic and on more than one occasion in Birmingham and London, I’ve heard the word ‘Yahoud’ be chanted at Pro-Pal demos. No social media, that’s being out and about.

We literally had a Syrian migrant called ‘Jihad’ attacked a synagogue a couple of weeks ago and it’s common place for Jewish schools and places of worship to have amped up security. Jewish people across Europe from the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands an so on feel more unsafe than at any point in recent history. Why is that?

Pretty much, WMP and the SAG have looked at this and thought "Brum has a very large Muslim community and there is a chance the away fans may try and wind these people up, better safer than sorry".

What we have is politicians of all stripes sounding off on something they have not seen the full facts on. WMP will also have been tracking activity and can probably show the government intelligence they have on what may happen.

As Israeli lawmaker advocates rape of Palestinians, U.N. report details detainee torture

On Wednesday, an Israeli military court extended the detention of eight out of nine Israeli soldiers who have been held over what a defense lawyer said were allegations of sexual abuse of a Palestinian at Sde Teiman—a shadowy facility where Israel has held prisoners from Gaza during its genocidal...
www.peoplesworld.org

Bezalel Smotrich: No more raids or in-and-out operations – now we conquer, cleanse, and stay. Until Hamas is destroyed. Along the way, what remains of the Strip is also being wiped out, simply because everything there has become one big terror city.

I think it will be possible to declare 'we have won' within a few months. Gaza will be completely destroyed, its civilians will be concentrated south of the Morag Axis - and from there, they will leave in large numbers to third countries.

Tulkarm and Jenin will look like Jabalia and Shujaiya. Nablus and Ramallah will look like Rafah and Khan Younis. They too will be uninhabitable ruins, their residents will be forced to migrate and seek a new life in other countries.

The time has come to completely stop the transfer of humanitarian aid to Hamas, to stop these entrances and exits at the risk of our soldiers, the time has come to occupy the Gaza Strip, to seize territory from them permanently as a response to the terrible massacre and to prevent the next massacre.

Itamar Ben-Gvir: Complete halt of "humanitarian" aid. Total occupation of the Strip. Total destruction of Hamas. Encouragement of migration. Settlement.

The only way to achieve victory . . . is through the complete conquest of the Strip, a total cessation of "humanitarian" aid, and the encouragement of emigration.

The food and aid depots should be bombed in order to create military and political pressure.

We will encourage voluntary transfer of all Gazan citizens. We will offer them the opportunity to move to other countries because that land belongs to us.

Occupation, settlement, and encouragement of emigration. Only in this way can we solve the problem of Gaza. To occupy all the land. To settle in all the land. And of course, to encourage the voluntary emigration of as many [Palestinian] people as possible to other countries.

What does that have to do with anything? WMP and the SAGs decision isn't based on the "integration" of parts of Brum, rather it's on past actions and likely future intelligence.

There were mass protests against Israel on October 8th 2023 before there was a military response. People should think about that.

No, I don’t. Hamas deliberately embeds itself in civilian infrastructure.

It’s not a conventional war (lik Ukraine-Russia) where there is a clear demarcation between military frontlines and civilian, non-combatant areas. Even so, civilian casualties is an ugly feature of war.

This is obviously more of a rhetorical question because none of us are military experts here, but how do you conduct a war in an area like Gaza?

Polling is unreliable in the West Bank and Gaza, but the data we have suggests there was widespread support for Hamas’ actions on October 7th 2023. 72% polled supported kicking this conflict off. With neighbours like that, the prospects of a peaceful two-state solution is little to none.
