May be over thinking it but why are they calling the Israeli captives hostages and the palestinian hostages prisoners?
Some of Palestinians technically are prisoners, even if the process that led to that is somewhat dubious to say the least. However there are thousands of people taken by Israel who have never been charged with anything let alone been on trial and found guilty. No idea why they are referred to as detainees yet on the other side its hostages.

Been the story throughout the entire war really. Very obvious different use of language. When figures on Palestinian deaths are given you always get 'Hamas run health ministry' or similar, nothing equivalent when its Israeli deaths.

I bet the lefties are hating this, where are you Biden and Harris, Corbyn , and our little starmer in the background bless him Cnut!!
Biden is receiving treatment for aggressive cancer.

Not sure why Harris would be involved really, not sure she holds any official role current. Same with Corbyn, not sure what you're expecting from him past his statement welcoming the ceasefire.

Starmer is in Egypt at the Gaza peace summit being made to look an idiot by Trump :ROFLMAO:

Whilst I understand, if not even agree with your perception of a differing in language when describing Israeli/Palestine actions, I think the example you have given could be seen differently. Israel, however unpalatable to some they may be, are run by a democratically elected government with recognised institutions and legal processes , whereas Gaza is ran by a proscribed terrorist organisation. I would say, with journalist integrity in mind, it's understandable why the BBC, as an example, would contextualise the source of the quoted death figures as a means of transparency, I don't think it's an attempt to discredit those figures.

Great scenes we are seeing this evening on the news. Looks like the war is finally over, or at least, coming to a close.

Say what you want about Trump, but no other world leader has managed this. It's a great achievement and no wonder other presidents/prime ministers are falling over themselves trying to get some credit in the press conferences.

Hopefully Russia/Ukraine next...
