I find it hard to consider a child a criminal in this circumstance.

Got to be honest, if someone had shot and killed a friend or relative of mine I probably wouldn’t be spending the weekend glued to the news and / or social media to see if anyone was protesting against genocide in Gaza.

And even if I did not sure how you conflate the two things unless there’s a suggestion that all Jews, or at least those in Manchester, are somehow involved in or supporting the genocide which would be a hugely antisemitic thing to say, at least if you go off the IHRA definition.

Some positive news for a change coming in overnight
Hamas confirms Gaza peace deal

We have now heard from Hamas, which says in a statement that a deal has been reached to end the war in Gaza.

Hamas is also calling on Trump and the involved countries to compel Israel to fully follow the deal.

Netanyahu: 'Great day for Israel'

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has just released another statement, calling Hamas and Israel's agreement to the first phase of a Gaza peace deal "a great day for Israel".

He says he will convene Israel's government tomorrow to approve the agreement and "bring all our dear hostages home".

He goes on to thank Israeli troops and US President Donald Trump and his team "for their mobilization for this sacred mission of releasing our hostages".
Lets hope the plan stays on track and the people of Israel and Gaza can put this nightmare behind them. We all know how fragile peace can be in that region but at least there is a glimmer of hope that they may now be able to peacefully co-exist.

Seems by all accounts Trump finally lost patience with Netanyahu, the killing of Hamas negotiators in a neutral country, Qatar, seems to have been the thing that spurred him into action. There's reports from Trumps recent meeting with Netanyahu, behind closed doors, of an expletive laden rant from Trump demanding the war be ended now or else.

No doubt helped by increasing pressure and mounting public protests, led by the families of the remaining hostages, back in Israel that Netanyahu was more interested in continuing the war that achieving their release.

In some ways reminiscent of Regan's call with Begin and the realisation that he had the power to force an end to Israel's actions.

Long way to go of course, you can't help but feel there will be people on both sides waiting for the slightest excuse to throw the deal aside but lets hope that isn't the case and we can finally see all civilians on both sides released and aid allowed in to Gaza.

looks like Israel, as it has done before previous ceasefires, is intensifying its bombing of Gaza ahead of the deadline for the ceasefire.

nothing says we are looking forward to peace like chucking a load of bombs around.

sadly given the state of information networks in Gaza people there have responded to news of a ceasefire by starting to return to what is left of their homes and it seems to be those people who are getting bombs dropped on them.

It isn't the first ceasefire since the conflict started and Israel was first to violate the ones that came before.

What is this now, the 5th time the war has been 'over'. just got to hope that this time a ceasefire can be attained and maintained.

Not dissimilar to the Ukraine conflict, it could all end if the aggressor withdrew from territory and stopped killing people. It's all within Israel's gift to stop killing people, and even to play a part in rebuilding what they destroyed.

Netanyahu gets to get away with killing 65,000 people and starving many more. It's revealing that one of the terms of this 'deal' is that food and medical supplies will be allowed in. Which means that Israel was preventing them from getting in in the first place.

Ceasefire you say only for Gaza. The aggression just changes focus as Greater Israel is built. Now where did I see that pattern before?

I'll be very surprised if they don't find some kind of excuses to resume bombing again within the next couple of months once the hostages have been returned.

From a purely logistical standpoint I think it will be extremely difficult for both Israel and Hamas to return their respective hostages/prisoners in such a short window, especially when you’re talking about human remains. Given the levels of mutual mistrust and the previous issues in returning hostages, it would not be a surprise if one side claimed the other was not keeping to the deal and resumed hostilities.

Enough for them to be included in Trump's plan as the organisation that will govern Gaza as the IDF rolls out, and they've mobilised seven thousand of their security forces to do that.

Was thinking that much of the leadership must surely either be dead or abroad.
