We're as close as we have been at any time this century. In the last few years we've come close and also came close to an FA cup final.

Keeping our 1st team players and replacing most of the rest would be best of both worlds. Keep the team and squad togetherness and strengthen where needed the most. Lampard would probably get a couple of good loans in as well.

We wouldn't be the worse of the promoted sides. Get another 1 or 2 present Prem sides to struggle again? Lampard knows what's needed in the Prem. We should have a chance of staying up.

I'd get him signed up on a longer contract and stick with him even if we get relegated.
Could not agree more.If we start badly or find ourselves in the bottom 3 ,don't let the bedwetters sway things. If the worst happens and we come back down(Idon't think we will) Frank would have a fair bit of money to meet the challenge of a quick return.
Enjoy the ride.

I know we all look at the mental training complexes teams like Leicester built but that can't be the story for everyone.

When I lived in Portsmouth they were training in the local park, using uni pitches and the gym at Roko and they were only a couple of years out of the Prem!

We don't need a fancy training complex. Having the team train in Allesley Park would be character building.

We’ve clearly been putting plans in place behind the scenes to work towards it, so we’ll be well prepared.

At this point my main concern is keeping hold of Lampard from rival clubs and/or idiots calling for him to be sacked if we’re in the bottom 3.

This is definitely going to happen. Might as well set up the threads on here now

We will need at least 6 signings who are premier league capable - most of the current first team isn’t going to be capable. We van easily spend £100m with limited risk in the first season

back four needs some serious attention. Key to staying up not conceding. That's why Sunderland will stay up this season - haven't scored many but haven't conceded many either. Likes of Burnley & Ipswich went up with excellent Championship defences and conceded by the hatful in PL.

It feels inevitable that the first name will be Sam Allardyce.
