Stopping in the old De Vere and loads of Irish people in there last night and noticed a few tri-colour flags in the crowd today, is there a bit group over for Cov?

Lots of irish, I can't speak for the clubs, but I am the grandson of a grandfather from Tralee, County Kerry, and a Grandmother from Shercock, County Cavan. They both moved to Coventry in the 1940s, my dad was born in 1948..

The flag down near the away section (block 4 area I think) is there most weeks.

We had my other half's cousin over from Galway for the game but that's just a coincidence.

There were a couple of Irish fans I saw who'd obviously never been over before, buying a couple of beers and asking if they could take them up to their seats.

I class myself as Irish. Born in Coventry, but my mother and all ancestors come from the city of Cork. Very proud of my Irish roots. I have loads of birth and death certificates dating back to the mid 1800's, all in Gaelic with English translations beneath.

I was stood next to a lady at a bar who was wearing a Kerry GK jersey that was a very appropriate sky blue!

Nothing wrong with heritage and ancestors, but the bottom line is your English.

Irish parents and three Irish nephews. After years of hoping, the youngest (16) is really into the Sky Blues. My sister asked how difficult is it to get a shirt? One was ordered before we'd finished the call!

Half the "Irish" in Coventry go to Cheltenham races once a year and think that qualifies them.

Celtic shirt to make it official.

I was born in Coventry with Irish parents so I aleays class myself as Coventry Irish. However in every other way I would class myself as Irish. If your heart is green then there is nothing you can do about it.

At least you're not Celtic (football club) Irish or those plastic types, they often seem overly political and oddly anti-British/English whilst being based over here. People should still respect where they're located essentially. I'm sure you do - hopefully.

Blarney Street and Gould Street. Both from the mid 1800's to about 1915ish. Family name of Lynch also Healy.

I'm pretty certain, for a long time when ethnicity was given on census for Coventry, after British, Irish recorded the second highest figure.
I'm not so sure that would be the case now.
