Ipswich Team? (17 Viewers)

Is anyone worried about Ipswich? I’m confident we won’t lose next week.
I'm worried about all of our next 4 games (given our injuries). Already worried about Dickie scoring from a set piece for a game that's third in the sequence. Mad how your brain can take you on strange journeys

Last 3 games 10 goals for...........but 5 against. And Charlton could easily have made that 6

The back 4 is the most stable part of the squad. We all fill in the same 4 names when naming our squads on the match thread. But there is an issue, I'm not sure what it is or how long before the attack cannot bail us out?

Ipswich could be the bridge too far. At the risk of bringing down upon my head the Wrath of Fatso (which sounds like a bad Marvel Comic), I would be more than happy with a draw.

Our attack don't 'bail us out' of anything. This is a whole team effort, you simply would not be where we are if it wasn't.

Why the fear factor? Ipswich have scored 3, conceded 2 and 4 points. They’ve only beaten 1 team in the top half (Hull) all season. We’ve both played 7 top half teams, we’ve played 8 with a record of 6-1-1.

We are not in danger Gibbo, we are the danger!

I agree, depending on injuries. Hoping some of the rumours flying around are bollocks and it's just BTA out.

That is just a cliche - far to simplistic, we have been behind far too often for our own comfort. I bet you Lampard's team are less complacent

High level drivel. Its already been mentioned elsewhere that we've conceded very few from open play, additionally our defenders contribute massively to our attacking play that 'bails them out.'

We concede because the defence makes basic mistakes. See WBA x 2. End of
Thought Torp was at fault for the Sheff U and Charlton goals. His man beat him on both occasions.
MVE against Boro. Bobby obviously at Boro. Unforced error.
JDS first, Kitch second against WBA.
There is no one player you can say is playing badly at the back.
The way we play means these things happen.
We have the joint second best defence in the league. If you take out the three Wrexham scored, with three quarters of our defence missing, we would be top.
Some people want perfection.

10 points clear and we still can't shake off the whiners. We could beat Real Madrid 4-1 in a Champions League final and some dry arse on here would still be moaning we didn't close Mbappe down quick enough for their goal.

I can see them raising their game against us. This is one of those where you take a draw all day long. I just wonder if he'll go 3 at the back...
They won't raise their game against us! They already think they are premiership quality and should have enough to blow us away! Don't forget the old saying Ipswich! "Don't poke the bear!"

Don’t forget the defence is a little weaker because they’re all up the other end which isn’t working out too badly overall.

Rudi doesn't work out wide. He comes inside far too often.

If Saka is fit he comes straight back in and it's a complete 50/50 between Eccles and Rudi in the 10 for me - Eccles will bring more energy, Rudi doesn't quite look match fit, but he still has the ability to create moments Eccles doesn't. Happy with either.

There are some crushingly naive responses above to what seems a pretty obvious point that I made

We concede too many. Doesn't matter if we score more. There is always room for improvement. 3-0 is better than 3-2.

To develop it further. These goals are not as a rule coming from attacking moves, with our defence stretched because we are an attacking team. They tend to be because of an inability to safely clear danger even though the defence is set up.

Not so good if you are facing the likes of PNE and Ipswich away

A little bit dramatic?

Played 18 conceded 18. Only Stoke have a better defensive record. Not bad when you consider that our defence can often be found in our opponents penalty area and score some important goals.

A draw wouldn't be a bad result but we will be looking for the win. Ipswich have an extra game this week, are not the sharpest in defence and are slow going forward. In their last game against Oxford they had 72.9% possession and 17 shots with 7 on target. Oxford managed 13 shots with 8 on target.

At this stage last season eventual champions Leeds had conceded 5 less than we have, but they had scored 19 fewer.

I dont think it's as big as concernas you're making out.

Imo the only reason we concede is because we set up to attack and that leaves us a bit more open. I'd rather have our 3-1 wins than Burnley's 1-0s last season.

That is a valid point except it's not like we will leak the occasional goal, we are more open than that.

Charlton and Watford with more clinical finishing could have been 3-0 up on us at home. Blackburn as well if they had made better decisions in the penalty area.

I think what deflates teams at the moment is we are very clinical this season. We seem to be scoring off our first and second chances often against the run of play.

Might be a bit early for Sakamoto. The protocols are very strict. Lampard said at the weekend he didn't know, but was hopeful Wright would be back I got the feeling he felt Sakamoto wouldn't be available.

We've conceded a goal a game on average.

Hardly pant-wetting territory.

If you're expecting to go through the season without jeopardy or mistakes, that is ridiculous.

You’re hard to please! It’s the best football we’ve seen in decades and the defenders aren’t bat too. Don’t worry about the mighty Preston, it’s Arsenal and Man City next season.

I think if he’s allowed to play we’ll chuck him in from the start, hopefully he is because we missed him on Saturday.
