The Intelligent Football we mean is: It
1) Teaches reading the play and taking control of the game.
2) Rectifies why over 98% of goals are conceded.
3) Teaches keeping possession for longer than the average of 10 seconds and much more!!!!! Thanks for your comments keep them coming....

Education about football and how to play the game to win matches is at the heart of the Intelligent Football process. Some examples are, teaching the team to keep possession for longer than the aveage of 10 seconds, teaching the players to be able to read the play and take control fo the game and indentifying and rectiying why 98% of goals are conceeded...this is the education the players need to become Intelligent Fooballers..keep the comments coming thank you David

We are talking about footballers being educated about how to win games. They then become Intelligent footballers...appreciate your input..
Technical ability, Athletic Ability are all good attributes but if you can't make the decision do do the right thing these gifts are lost... Our game sadly is all about Athletic Ability more so than thought process or technical ability of the individual. If i had money for everytime ive heard in the UK "i can coach them with the ball to get better but i can't coached them to run faster or be physically bigger" id be a rich man.

Have to agree, the English game is all about producing athletics, then worrying about the football side of things later on. The youth set up in this country is just a joke, It's all about the winning from about the age of 7 or 8, when in fact it should be about producing talented footballers.

Play to win at all ages and get better with coaching and practice
Playing to win at under 10 level means nothing and doesnt create anything in regards to footballing future's... For instance u10's playing on a massive pitch one side has the fastest kid and the biggest GK with a CB who kicks in the length of the field... You dont have to be a rocket scientist to work out how to win...
Same situation 5 years on Big kid is same size as majority on the field,,, CB kicks it the same distance as all and the fast kid is still running fast but doesnt know where or how to run the channels!!!!!!!!!!!!!.... Winning at youth level should only come into effect at an age where technical ability allows them to adapt to any given situation... Play for fun,, the coaching enviroment is better to learn all aspects of the game.....

I agree with the sentiment but kids like to win and they often lose interest if they don't.
To put a slightly more scientific slant on this, there is an alarming bias according to records that dispel the theory of early braun not being a huge factor in progression, in that there is a higher % of professional sports men and women born in the first half of the school year.
Presumably being that much physically stronger, brighter and quicker means that they achieve more. Of course there are and will continue to be many instances of quality athletes being born later and as the children grow older that gap becomes less significant, but at a young age when almost a year between some of the intake, it has an effect in some cases so damaging that it puts the children off entirely and they may never go on to reach their true potential.

I agree that coaching should cover all aspects of the game and lifes experiences...and that winning is not important when you are at a young age. It is participation that is important and also it is about having fun.
This particular Intelligent Football process is aimed at professional clubs, like Coventry and also contains elements of having fun. Thanks for your input....David

We use a methodology called TLLAL, it teaches the players to Think and Learn to link their brain to their feet....every time they train or play they are thinking and learning and they get better. They are learning more about themselves, their team mates and the game and in time will become Intelligent players in an Intelligent winning team.
I have coached in the UK and abroad and can honestly say its the mentality stopping the progression in every type of football in this country, we are strong enough, want to win enough but we don't know how to put all together to compete at highest level. Ability to think and make the right decision on the pitch is never spoken about in our game and that with being technical could make up a massive difference to ccfc.
We have lost 21 points this year from winning positions, all are down to making the wrong decisions and not being technical enough to keep the ball... And that can't be ignored or put down to being unlucky its has to be deeper than that. So to your original question Yes our club could do with more intelligent players and for the club to start to recognize brain with ability at academy level..

Thank you for this reply. The solution to improve team results is really quite simple. Please have the club invite me to the training ground and I will demonstrate how the team can and will win more games using the Intelligent Football process.
