Back then it was done for the right reasons, I.e. for the benefit of the club, not the owner.
Colour change wasn't really significant, blue to sky blue, also sky blue had been the teams colour in the past anyway.
Song is neither here or there really.
Ours was a rebranding that was respectful to the fans, history and the city.

The timing was the perfect thing. A lowly third division club in a booming city workwise. Success in the first season with a great cup run followed by promotion. I assure you if Cardff or Hull suddenly become the next Manchester City their fans won't care about kit colour or Hull fans if they are called tigers

I remember being part of 10000 plus going to away matches when we were in Div 3. Can't get more than 1500 to go to home games now. That's the SISU effect.
Still the same city but all the enthusiasm knocked out by a bunch of amateurs getting involved in something they don't have a clue about.

And Sky Blue was more an accident. Jimmy Hill's original idea was Coventry blue which is a bit darker than sky blue but it is said the then new kit came with the now famous lighter blue and it was the journalist Nemo (Derek Henderson) who first called us the Sky Blues in a match report.

Now we have Joy who is by her own admission clueless on football and olny cares what her investors think.
That in a nutshell is why we are going nowhere in Northampton in division 3 playing in front of around 1k.
Sooner the they are gone the better, CCFC will never prosper with SISU.
They only know how to relegate and increase debt. This is proven already.

You are right our away support in those halcyon days was massive, anywhere I remember getting special train number 3 to Carlisle and over 10000 to Crystal Palace for a Saturday night game, moved so it didn't clash with the West Brom v Q.P.R. league cup final, the first staged at Wembley. But you are correct the cretins running OUR club nowadays have no idea or care about who we are, where we came from or more scarey where we are going or end up. And one more thing the fans of those days would not have accepted what is currently happening to OUR club as meekly as todays fans so-called are.
