Would he have had a place in starting line up?

Imo with the amount of long balls we were playing in the air he would have done a good job, possibly better than what ball can do (yet to be seen)

Am I mad!!?

Yup, stark raving bonkers

Would Platt have buried that chance like Elliott? Would he have had the pace and energy to close down better than any City forward since Morrell? Sure we played too many high balls, but they were mostly by Murphy from goal-kicks and panicy clearances. Once the movement, fitness and composure gets better I think we'll keep the ball down a lot more. I think we were less direct today than the Yeovil game, and part of that is not having an "easy-ball" target-man option to aim for tonight.

I agree with what you have said, but at times it seemed if big Clive was up there, he'd have brought it down and laid it off to Cody/Elliott. But that's all down to the players floating the ball up to 2 players bellow 5ft10!

One of the big positives for me was having two strikers capable of keeping up with each other-and after all, one striker assisted the other for the goal tonight. For all his efforts-and indeed impact as a gutsy sub-Platt set up precious few goals.

For me Platt was too much of a non-goalscoring forward. I now believe we have two strikers in the side capable of netting 15+ league goals for the first time in ages!

And Ball as back up , i still think he has bags of potential .Also still linked with a PL striker on loan ,once we get "that player " then maybe send jeffers out on loan and listen to offers for RoD

Again I agree, but how about playing Ball just behind the strikers to bring it down and then create chances?

You have to be mobile for that role , Ball isnt that mobile to do it

Not sure about Ball, I think he's a good sub option for when we need to chase it late on and go long, but his shocking shanked shot today didn't inspire confidence. I still think it's more of a negative in that pick a target man=defenders hoofing it all game, much as it was when Platt started (he was better as impact sub).

And I really don't think a target-man forward can play "in the hole", their skill-set is totally contrary to the job description, so to speak.

Fleck is the player we have bought to play "in the hole " .Baker will try and maybe Bell or Sheff can try it to but we need Fleck fully fit to play the diamond well

I think Elliot will have a big part in our success this season.

Let's not panic, there's glimpses of a decent backbone. Jennings and Barton aren't fit but look good, wood will be a beast in this league and will score goals and upfront Cody and Elliot can and will score goals

Thorn is probably as frustrated as us ATM but the players pivotal to his system aren't yet fit enough to really make it work. However we are unbeaten against two teams used to this league one of which will deffo be challenging

Bury will get buried

Think your man was totally bang on about Elliott: I was doubtful about his qualities, but not any more. Cracking little player at this level, and I think he can get back to the good-Championship player he was before.

Like it has been said in other threads tonight , both Elliott and Jennings are Championship class .When both are fully fit and the rest of the squad are up and running we will be ok this year .I said top 8 start of the season , i still think that is where we are at but hope the feel good feeling returns this season and we can build on it for next season

My local when I lived in Rugby used to be The Saracans Head, but they sold it and the new owners ruined it

Great beer garden and pool room back in the day. Then we moved onto the Dirty Duck, but they've ruined that too now by chaving it up.

Yeah, just a few! Saracens is The Courthouse now I think, bottom of North Street opposite where the Bingo used to be.

Duck is down the alleyway opposite WH Smiths and McDonalds. S'alright I guess.

Last time I was there I spent most the night avoiding my ex. She was the finest woman I've ever met..at blanking someone she'd gone out with for two years. Guess my old dear had been onto something when she dubbed her The Ice Queen years before..
