If Sisu and Ranson had never given Coleman the job in the first place we might be a lot better off.

Great Clingan that struggles to pass to anyone ahead of him and Andy Carroll who just struggles. With those two in the squad we would struggle to win league 1 let alone the championship.

That side would pick up points in the Premiership they put this current squad to shame gone back-wards is an understatement !

I suppose this side wouldn't please everyone knowing our supporters and how they go on but I'd bet 99% of fans on here would take this side over our current crop of Garbage ;)

Put it this way if McGoldrick was here if this was the side he would be playing reserve team football or at the Boro shows how far we've come.

We were never going to sign Carrol or Henderson, despite what Ray "debt-free, massive pay-rise every year, and wonga.com levels of interest paid on his loan" Ranson said.

I believe the deal for Carroll was all but done until Sisu blocked it at the last min agree with post above Oliver Norwood was a great midfielder the type of player we have missed since Gary Mac left

The mistake was Coleman imho. We wouldn't have succeeded under him if we had Chipped, Hadji, Kane McAllister et al.

I also believe that if Coleman or Boothroyd had seen even a glimmer of success we wouldn't have been fed scraps ever since. Both had squads capable of mounting serious play off pushes.

Anyway the time for what ifs is over. We need to accept recent history for what it is and gather up what belief and pride we have left. We need to use that to back Robins.

It is funny that people believe whatever Ranson used to say. Also that we were the only club who Carroll and Henderson were offered to. What is even funnier is claiming that Coleman would have got us to the top of the Championship.

there was no chance of us getting carroll because we didnt have the finances to do it ........ Ranson can say what he likes but the bottom line was we didnt have the money

its easy for him to say SISU wouldnt spend the money........ my guess is that due to his lack of success they had spent what he and they budgetted and a bit more.... at some point you have to say no. Easy to blame SISU when in actual fact they let him do anything he wanted right up to the point their investors said "no more we dont see it working" Dont forget under Ranson we lost something like £20m even after selling Dann & Fox ! dont forget he was the CEO the man with his finger on all the figures...... he knew if we could afford the deal or not, but that doesnt deflect responsibilty though does it Ray:whistle:

Just to be clear the plan was always to bring in players and sell them on .......... which is what they have done consistently....... it is the only way to keep CCFC afloat .......... the squad of players above was always unlikely to be playing together for long if at all.

ps some of those players were not even on Colemans radar .......... or available to him

Boothroyd did offer a glimmer of success, more so than any other manager in reason years. The fans wanted to watch 'passing' football, some even claiming this was even more important than results.

Also, why doesn't AB get the same sympathy that certain others have? He wasn't backed in January and allowed to add to the squad to compensate for injuries to key players?

I have no problem with the long ball game at all, so long as it gets results and you have something to switch to when it doesn't work. We went on a good run at the beginning of the season, during which, the board said that if we were still in the top 6 by Christmas, he would be backed for more transfers. We were then "found out" and didn't have a plan B so continued to hoof it up the pitch where opposing teams were ready for us. By Christmas we were not in the top six and 1 third the way into a terrible streak without winning, thus Boothroyd, who had already signed Juke for a reported £1m and got MK in on £10k per week amongst numerous other players, was not afforded more money.

It's hard to feel sorry for AB when he was given a lot in his first season but ultimately, failed to deliver with but the one tactic.

I enjoyed our winning run when we were on it, but his record after Leeds was, on the basis of other managerial departures, sackable.

EDIT: Ref Juke and MK... nothing against them or their signings... just an example of how much money he had to spend

Yet he is the better manager out of our last 3 and will have a longer career in management.

What's that got to do with the fact he got sacked for rubbish football and rubbish results ?

He was not sacked for rubbish football, he was sacked due to poor results.

I was just pointing out a mere observation, that of our last 3 managers, he is the better manager and will have a lengthy career in management.

I actually thought we looked a better team under AB before King came along.

We were, and results afterwards showed that, however it was Boothroyd who put his neck on the chopping block by insisting on signing him, so any downturn in results and performances after King have to be put onto him.

Thought we got Juke for around £300K.,AB could talk the talk and walk the walk ,an inspirational character.I like you could take the style of footaball for the results we were getting .There were a few factors like the loss of Turner who had been a revelation,Carsley becoming injured ,the devisive signature of King which took eons to complete most likely for financial reasons but possibly politically too ,Female fans and Sponsors to consider .Did'nt Doyle got to Leeds at that point so cost negated .There is no doubt that at this point the season went into meltdown.I personally think Sisu just hav'nt got the balls to go for it which is odd given their Mantra, barely 15 months into thier gambit they started to sell the starlets they'd bought in ,and again around that Christmas was a time to back a manager who till that point had delivered

Not so rubbish as your chum delivered though was it Gaz and we had to put up with 17 months of bungling ineptitude from him. Which League is he managing in now by the way?
