If playing outside of coventry meant more investment....? (5 Viewers)

This might be a silly thought, my head is a bit frazzled with holding companies, non trading entities etc, but...

It has been argued that the rent and lack of revenue was hindering our club. Whilst pay high levels of rent but without matchday revenue streams we were always being held back, even more so with the fair play rules.

My thought was if by playing outside of coventry it freed up investment into the first team squad, thereby just enabling us to push on back towards the premier league would people rather:-
- play all home games at ricoh with that continuing to be a noose around our neck; or
- or travel elsewhere to see an improving team as a result of the extra funds.

Of course I guess that would depend on the agreement we have with whatever ground we play at re rent and revenue - surely would have to be a better deal though or what is the point.
We might win more as well as would almost be all "away" games.

After how depressing the ricoh has become what are peoples thoughts on never going back?

Gates will collapse and your assuming ACL won't replace CCFC. Massive assumption look at how Liverpool started

Not a chance, if I wanted to support someone good that had no connection with Coventry I would have picked Man Utd as my team. I support my hometown team, my club, my city.

If they move to a ground out of the area, thats 20+ years off my loyalty to the club thown back at me.

Lol, no.
Just trying to desperately to find some positive spin behind this which is hopefully a secret master plan which has had us all fooled and will see us winning the champions league in 2020 :)

Happy birthday.

That is the problem on reflection isn't it. I love coventry - my work colleagues in brum think I am mad - and if they don't play in coventry then will not be the same. Thanks for helping me answer my own question.

Back to being depressed and hoping something is sorted out soon.

Sorry Vickie, I will not travel to a ground more than 10 miles from the Ricoh. I see not investment in any team anyway. How could a club play in front of 1500 people and expect to progress.

SISU is a vile entity that has destroyed this club.

I don't support football. I support City. If city go I will not support another club. The game is rotten at the moment anyway. Like I said.....City or nothing for me.

where is the city boundary? wouldn't the other side of the motorway be out of the city? would people seriously refuse to go if we were playing a mile away from the Rioch (theoretical of course, no idea if there's anywhere to build a stadium there). does bring up another though. If we were to make plans for a stadium just outside the boundary would we no longer need Cov Council to grant planning permission?

You are right - money, greed, cheating etc. has been gradually killing the game. The problems we have are just one of the many consequences.

City till I die (or they do).

The real Coventry City can only play at the Ricoh or in the city boundaries. The moment the club is taken out of Coventry then we are dead. I am not aware of he demographics but there are a fair number of people walk up to the matches at the moment. They would be abandoned by Coventry City. SISU will have killed us.

To all those who went out of their way to claim SiSU were the knights in shiny armour, and ACL were the ones who are out to destroy the club.

Oh how your words ring hollow today.

Just shows what a disgrace you people are - by supporting SiSU YOU have destoryed the club.

Hope you are satisifed now!

Now fuck off back to villa

Wouldn't say ACL are innocent in all this. It could be argued that those who blindly believe everything acl have said due to their hatred of sisu have done little to help either.

There is a middle ground.

Our club is a pawn caught up in this game between sisu and acl. All we can hope is that the final result doesn't completely ruin our club beyond repair.

How does that work?

If ACL had their way the football club would be entering administration tomorrow which is only a short hop away from liquidation.

Even now people are advocating ACL lock the doors. Who would that benefit? If ACL are so benevolent to the good folks of coventry surely they would come up with an affordable rental agreement (afterall, they are profitable unlike ccfc who are supported by SISU).

I'm no SISU fan but equally I can't equate their actions as killing this club as easily as I can those actions taken by ACL.

I wonder if ACL was owned by someone other than a charity and the council whether some fans would take a different position?

TF has stated that JS is the owner,
therefore given all previous poor levels of ownership, it is she, that is to be held responsible,
& still she hides behind a barrage of legalities,
TF, plus other parties supposedly agreed a rent, i.e. shaking hands,
yet we are where we are,
so who is this down to ?
it would seem that we have an obdurate person who continues to remain anonymous,
there is a selective band who still follow the JS mantra,
there is also a number of people who care dearly for OUR CLUB,
self
interest
supports
us

If the team does not play in Coventry then sorry it is NOT Coventry City, so if SISU don't think they have done enough damage that they now want to try and steal the club and set it up elsewhere ala MK Dons they can forget it. The club is in administration and through the courts there are ways of forcing a sale, much like Pompey are doing now. I would say its time for them to go, but to be honest it was never time for them to be here SCUM.

Spencer wake up and smell the coffee!! Sisu are shit for us and need to leave!!

I haven't said anything about supporting SISU. The point I made was I cannot understand how ACL are seen as some wonderful benefactor of ccfc. All they have done is charge unaffordable rent, offer a reduced, but still unaffordable, rent and when SISU have said no refused an offer of third party mediation and then tried to finish the club.

If, on the other hand they had found a buyer, it wasn't for the benefit of the club it was to benefit their wallets.

So, because some people don't see things as black and white as you they aren't supporters of the club?

Unfortunately you are seen as supporting sisu if you suggest there are any other factors other than sisu behind our problems. I am with you though, fail to see why there is such a love-fest for acl.

Thank you vickie. In 12 words you accurately summarised my thoughts I,

"fail to see why there is such a love-fear for ACL."

This has been churned over too much. SISU agreed terms when they took over. They knew the score, rightly or wrongly. They played silly buggers during negotiations. We are here because of the failure to agree.
