I wrote my letter to the Football League tonight. (1 Viewer)

I'm sure he's got a million letters already but he has a million and one now!

Dear Mr Clarke,

I very seldom write letters, however I feel moved enough by recent events at my Football Club, Coventry City that I wanted to bring to your attention the massive disappointment I feel at the way the future of my club is being handled at this present time.

I have been a season ticket holder at Coventry City, something that I gave up last season because I felt that the owners of my club no longer had the best interest of my club at heart. Since then things have taken a downward spiral to the point where my club is teetering on the edge of liquidation and has seen a sequence of events that would not be out of place in a soap opera.

I hoped to return to Coventry City Football Club and begin to take my 1st son to games as my dad took me when I was a youngster, however, following recent events it has been announced that my team are moving from their purpose built stadium in Coventry to Northampton Town some 35 miles away. As far as I can see there is no need for this apart from the spite of the current owners of my club against the stadium owners because they dare to request that they are paid the contracted rate to play at the Ricoh Arena.

I have not even begun to discuss the administration process, where the previous owners appointed their own administrator and have now become the preferred supplier to re-purchase the club through a company which has no trading history, no credit and will be funded by the same organisation which allowed my club to go into administration.
It seems at this point that the only organisation who can do anything about this travesty is the Football league by either your fit and proper person test or by vetoing the proposed move the Northampton Town. My understanding is that the football league and all football for that matter should be run for the fans with the fans in mind. How can allowing my club to move 35 miles away when they have a purpose built stadium in the city be in the interest of the fans?

I am trying my best to keep my emotions in check as I write this letter as I understand that the Football League has a responsibility to ensure that there is a Coventry City Football Club next season to complete it’s fixtures. However, after visiting your website and seeing the tag line “Real football, Real fans” and reading your Role & Values where it states “We encourage all parts of the community to enjoy league football by watching matches or taking part in other activities through our member clubs” I feel you also have a responsibility to the real victims of this whole affair, the fans of Coventry City Football Club and I hope that you consider this when making your decision on a once great club.

Yours Hopefully
