I was there in the early-mid 00s when a young woman in the Burnley end exposed herself to the West Terrace. I later saw her outside the station throwing up and falling over in it.
Classy.

I was there when Clive Allen scored for Palace with a free kick but the ball hit the stanchion at the back of the goal and came out and the ref didn't see it...was on Match of the day that night (in the days when you only had two or three games on)

I was there in 1981 at the League Cup semi final first leg to see us go down 2-0 in half an hour, but then get three goals in 20 minutes to win. Gary Thompson scored at each end. An own goal, then two in reply for us. It’s still the best game/atmosphere ever for me, partly because Gary Thompson sorted me out with a ticket

It wasn't a replay. We were drawn away to Luton in the league cup but they werent allowed to play home cup ties on their plastic pitch.
I was at that game too. Pissed down all night and we lost!

You are absolutely correct it was a horrendous evening. Thanks for ensuring I didn’t think I’d gone mad

I was there when we drew 2-2 with Bristol City on the final game of the season (after leading 2-0). The draw kept both clubs up at Sunderland’s expense as they lost at Everton in a game that kicked off 15 mins early ().

I was there in 1956 to see Steve 'Kalamazoo' Mokone make his debut. My Uncle Doug, famed for his insights, said that 'he looked as though he could do with a bloody good hot meal'.

And we had one of the best young keepers in England on the bench too, iirc, Kirkland. Bloody madness.

I was there when Clive Allen Scored a perfect top corner free kick for Palace that hit the back stantion and flew out. The goal that never stood. Everyone in the ground apart from the ref knew it was in. Mick Coop cleverly played on while they were celebrating.

I was there in the kop with 2 uncles. It didn’t feel as crushed as the Wolves game, until leaving at the end. Don’t think my feet touched the floor then.

Ground was different then with that small stand which I was in thankfully opposite the Maine Stand. Hordes of people standing either side because the wall had come down, I remember the next game v Manchester United had 44000 in seemed a lot less than the Sunderland one.

I was there when....the ref blew his whistle for full time at about 86 minutes, before being surrounded by players pointing at the scoreboard clock. He was persuaded to play on, only to finish the match at bang on 90 minutes according to the scoreboard clock, and no injury/extra time at all.
Don't remember who we were playing, but i think it was a bore draw at Highfield Road.

As a kid stood on the Spion Kop I was there when we beat Shrewsbury 8-1 with a Ronnie Rees hat-trick. We went on to become Third Division Champions that season.
