They both have a very lower league look to them, seeing them I fear we've been a little optimistic.

Still got hope ours will be half decent. I’d prefer Nike though to be honest, they’ve been good kits.

Are they going to have kit launch night like last year? I didn’t go but heard it was a decent event.

What's the difference between a printed badge and what we have at the moment?

We have a printed badge currently, but it’s not as simple as a vinyl heat transfer: there’s some woven elements in it that give it some depth. Oldham’s badge there is also a bit more detailed than simply printed on, as it has debossed parts. They don’t tend to survive as well after a few washes but they can look pretty cool, even better than a woven appliqué badge.

One of my favourites in recent years is the Netherlands’ 2016 kit, which had this 3D debossed rubberised lion, it looks absolutely amazing in person:

The current shirt has an embroidered crest which supprised me as it looks ironed on on the CCFC shop photos IMG_20190511_133108_1.jpg

Maybe they mock up something quick for the pre release photos? Could be the same for Hummel I guess

That’s weird - the kit I bought at the start of the season looked identical to the press photos. Maybe they switched to embroidered logos midway through the season? Either way it looks a lot worse than the printed one - much less fidelity to the shapes.

Yes they are. They're just waiting for the official kits to get leaked, and will arrange the launch night a couple of days later

All shirts and majority of merchandise up until a few weeks ago had the thin transfer version of badge on.
At this level, especially with us not having an actual deal with nike, shop shirts and player shirts are identical.
Only recently have just sport supplied merchandise with either the stuck on embriodered badge from a couple of seasons back, or (a handful of) fully embroidered badges.
Guessing using up stocks of old badges after supply of printed ran out as they know deal coming to an end.
In my opinion though, the few recent ones with embroidered badges much better quality.
Only top level clubs ( spurs/city) get the Vaporknit shirts from Nike. Significant difference in quality between player and shop shirts. Badges usually rubberised too.
Brighton kit not vapourknit.
Adidas kits (top level only) also have player issue that have heat pressed seams, different badges etc...

This makes sense, the shirt I have was a gift brought end of feb/early march apparently the first one they sent was clearly a return and had a big ketchup stain down it. So they sent this one. I'd not clicked the badge was different but I prefer the embroidered version so it's fine by me

This is something I find fascinating about the difference between replica kits and ‘player issue’ kits, which a few of the top clubs have started to sell to fans too. I’ve only checked out some of the Adidas ones in the store in Westfield (Juventus, Real Madrid and Man United) but you can really see the difference — the detail is all printed and it feels substantially less glitzy, far more workhorse like — as somebody said, it’s to ensure there’s nothing that can rub (it probably keeps the weight down, too). When you consider they cost more than replica kits this feels kind of weird. Personally I much prefer the woven/embroidered elements (provided they’re done to a good standard).

The other major difference is the fit — they’re much, much slimmer-fitting and so you’re not going to look good wearing one unless you have an athlete’s physique. So that’s me totally out of luck!

I've got the home and third shirts for this season so got them at different times, both are like a felt print rather than embroidered. Best result for me though as I use them to play football and the embroidered version looks like it'd tear a nip off.

Lets hope this Hummel rumour is true, because Preston released their just sport nike kit today and it’s absolutely vile. Wouldn’t like to have that kit in sky blue next season

Saw that and it’s a travesty - I had the exact same thought when I saw it. The trouble is Nike haven’t really come up with many new template designs for 19/20, as most of their existing templates are still in active use for another year or so. The only other new design they have is based on the ‘vapor’ design that clubs like Man City has this year, and it’s single colour - it’d have been almost identical to this season’s kit if we’d used that.

Still, it could be worse; check out Newcastle’s kit for 2019/20:
