Yeah I believe a lack of solid employment and a sense of community and place affects mental health. And that belief is backed by research.

I'm sorry, but that argument just doesn't stack up. It's bonkers.

How do they cope in Greece, Italy and Spain, where they have eye-watering levels of youth unemployment? Those 3 countries also have amongst the world's lowest suicide rates.

Mental health issues are just better publicised and less taboo. Unless you really think that not having a job for life is somehow more traumatising than fighting in a war, living in absolute poverty, being outed as gay in the 1950s or having to give up a child for adoption because having a child out of wedlock is considered shameful? Younger generations have not experienced anything like the kind of hardship experienced by young people of previous generations, and yet young people today blame those older generations for mental health issues that exist today. Those issues have always existed, we're just better at talking about it.

Apologies for veering way off topic.

I think there’s a clue in there if you look for it; younger generations also weren’t alive when all of the things you mentioned were commonplace, and so the baseline against which they’re measuring their own happiness isn’t a valid or appropriate one. Or do you think people in the 1950s should have been grateful they weren’t born into serfdom?

It’s generally true that incidence of mental illness is higher in more developed countries, but I don’t think it’s as simple as we’re looking for it more closely; you don’t have to look hard to find stories of exceptionally wealthy people suffering depression and committing suicide. I’ve read about how people in newspapers’ rich lists are upset about how high (or not, in their minds) they appear in the list, and it’s hard not to come away with the feeling that the societal image of what it means to be a success (riches, beauty, youth) is partially to blame here.

Phew.

Anyway, can we go back to talking about football kits?

As utterly ridiculous as the kit is, it will be a prank for Paddy Power. They're always doing stuff like this, and in a few hours they will announce it's not really the kit and do the re-launch. It gets them publicity and everyone talking about them. The shirt above goes against all sponsorship legislation so couldn't be real even if they wanted it.

With the hummel kits all being somewhere between the sublime and the ridiculous, really feels like Oldham got the short end of the stick with theirs not being interesting enough to be either

Paddy power have sponsored Huddersfield’s kit but the shirt will not have a logo at all. So fair play to paddy as we would all love a shirt without a sponsor

I don't, it's the defacto standard in my mind for a shirt to have a sponsor. I just don't like a shit sponsor/logo

Just had a quick look to pre order a home shirt for my soon to be 4 year old. They only do up to 18 month shirts, then age 5/6.

That's quite a size gap. And it's £42. Not that I would ever get it of course but for example the entire new spurs kit for his age range in £40.

Don't make it easy do we.

Edit: Cancel all that, just realised his size are sold out. Whinge over. I'm ok hun x

Does anyone know if they produce any retro stuff? I seen one of the training/warm up tops from the charity shield game in 87 and it looked quality

To be honest, in previous years I don't think they've ever had anything smaller than small boys. I've bought my daughter (now 6) that size for a couple of years - buried her at first but didn't look too bad. Lasted her a while too. Might have to go a size up this year.

Agree about the cost. Ridiculous price for a kids top that'll only last a year. Gets expensive.

Much to my partners displeasure I had planned to order my daughter a junior kit ready for her arrival in 6 weeks, however 0-6 and 6-12 months are sold out. Gutted!
