We've scored loads of goals from set pieces even though we've got no one who is good a set pieces?
Goals from 2nd phase / recycled ball, call it what you will, are still classed as set piece goaĺs. We're pretty good at scoring from these situations.

Onyeka's goal from the Derby match is an example of this.

We're not so good at scoring directly from the set piece.

We’ve got a long thrower and someone who is OK from the left but mostly the players who take our corners and free kicks have poor assist and chance creation stats compared to the likes of a Hamer or a Louza at clubs that create less yeah.

I see the usual crew is out in force though so not expecting a serious discussion here as per. 🙄

I await the same five people laugh reacting to this because they’re fucking cretins.

We scored 20 from set pieces in our first 21 games (mid Dec) and only 4 in the last 19 games. It's been noticeable that teams are dealing with our set pieces much better this second half of the season, and in particular Milans long throws.
We've still got a record of scoring from set pieces as good as the team currently top of the PL

Yeah we do. Our record is excellent. But I can see why some might think based on our recent performances might think we're not great at set pieces. Recency bias and all that.
We definitely chuck in some frustrating ones no doubt, feel like set pieces is something fans of all teams just feel they aren't that good at, given most come to nothing. We've still been decent at them overall. Regardless I'm sure we'll snap up someone in the summer who can really sling one in.

No one has said we are bad at set pieces. I said we don’t have a good dead ball specialise. set pieces are more than just delivery and we’re good at attacking full stop this season. But we’ve rotated who takes them and are still working out how best to take corners for example. We’ve mostly been good at picking up second balls around the area.

I think you're actively farming emojis to be honest.

One minute you're eulogising about the importance of numbers, the next you're just ignoring them to fit your argument.

And how do you define a set piece specialist?
Is it someone who scores directly from free kicks, someone with a good free kick delivery, someone who can take a decent corner? What's the criteria?

tbf I think he's making a destinction between scoring as a direct result of a good set piece delivery (which I'm not sure has been happening much for quite a while), and picking up the secondary bits & pieces, which someone said still count towards stats?

However it's calculated, it's the same for everyone, and we've scored more than anyone else.

Yes, in the case of Torp it was specifically about free kicks directly at goal. Not corners or free kick delivery from non scoring distance.

Part of the problem at the moment is that we aren't winning the first header from the long throws very often. I think Hull were first to the ball every time on Monday?

I'm surprised we didn't position Kitch to win the first header. If we can get the flick on, anything can happen.
