No, I think we should all meet up to hand out flyers for their games and promote them as much as we can.

What a bizzare response to his post.

Are you doing the opposite then? Are you attending and handing out leaflets telling people the should not attend wasps matches?

What I don't get is why people only ever seem to hear from people who agree with them?

I knew loads of people who refused to go to Sixfields for their own reasons but all of the "I spoke to" type posts are always just there to prove a point to them isn't it?

On that note, I just spoke to 1,500 Wasps fans, they hate the move and say they won't go and the club is nothing to them now.

That's not quite right FP, sorry. In plenty of places, including Coventry, rugby is still a working man's sport, largely supported by the same sort of people who go to football. In fact at Cov RFC it seems like every other person I bump into either used to, or still does go to watch CCFC.

The only difference is that the crowd is a bit older, and can generally handle its beer.

Compared to footy, it makes a change from having to put up with the (mercifully few) gobshite 'rock-hard' sixteen year-olds with a burberry cap, pissed on two pints. Just because there are a few of them I don't class all CCFC fans as knobs though. Fair enough?

Not as bizzare as somebody making threads saying how proud they are of the council and how loads of people they know want to go to Wasps games

It was quite clearly sarcasm.

That's no surprise
I would guess it will be thousands who won't make that trip. Unfortunately they have been betrayed by their club and the RFU.

I am more surprised at people in Birmingham just prepared to stop going to the team they 'support' and popping along to the Ricoh instead because it is 'easier'

What are you trying to achieve Don? You've asked peoples opinion, and then seem to be challenging them, yet have make no prediction yourself. Are you trying to big them up? Are you trying to big the council? Me thinks you are trying to wum.

Stu it is a conversation you will not particularly like so of course as per standard practice you will refer to it as a wum.

For what it's worth, I do think if Coventry City were to somehow benefit from the new 'partnership,' then some may forgive Wasps and start to come round to supporting them ... or certainly not opposing them anyway.

If CCFC could benefit, then shouldn't we all support the wasps by paying to go and see them ? LOPM (lots of.....)

Whatever we think, Wasps are giving themselves 4 years to reach a break even point. I think they have run at a 3m loss in each of the last two seasons. There is a growing rumour on the Wasps forum that they would like to buy CCFC.

Personally I think they would need a few more backers than just Richardson if they were going to purchase and turn our fortunes around.

Outside of fans coming along with them, I don't really see how people will either switch allegiance due to proximity or suddenly become rugby union fans when they already had close enough options. It's like the talk of an NFL franchise moving to London - obviously they wouldn't take fans with them, and a lot of the audience for the sport here already have their team set in stone.

I'm sure they've considered this, of course.

They don't want to fund wasps losses, they won't be wanting to fund ours, and they certainly won't be wanting to inject equity into a company with no assets and little return on their investment.

I think people are putting 2 + 2 together not getting 4.

I can only refer to the few who said to me they will be going to Ricoh purely because it is easier for them.
I do not understand the psychology of rugby fans. However these ones are clearly not tribal in any way or form

My point exactly no particular club loyalty but will make a day of it with quite heavy drinking. But I can see why fellow Cov fans may be getting annoyed at other Cov fans bigging up WASPS its just observations won't change our predicament

Or their perception that they are getting 'bigged up' to a mere point of what I came across and was shocked by.

Unfortunately the following comments by others suggesting I spoke to loads, I spoke to hundreds etc etc was soley made up by those in question.

I merely said a I spoke to a handful and posed a question. Got some interesting responses though.

It seems some dont like the idea that it happened so ridicule it

Or that you put it in another thread but didn't get any bites so had to give it a thread of it's own to get maximum attention That shocked that 4 days later you posted a thread about it.

I think Sisu have done the hard work and cut their cloth to suit.

The problem isn't that Wasps backers could easily run the club at a profit but that Sisu want their money back and are unlikely to sell it for what it's worth.

Or more people mentioned than those initial ones and it so it got me really thinking so I posed the question. It really shouldn't be fishing or wumming as what's wrong with the question. It is surprising for me I have not come across this type if mentality before

Nothing is wrong with the question or even if it is your opinion that wasps are amazing and you love them (not that I am saying it is, if it was).

My point is the intended outcome and purpose of the thread.

It's a shame when you hear something you don't like it becomes wumming.
Please explain why a rugby fan from another area coming to the Ricoh to watch wasps and my surprise at this is wumming?

To find out if anyone else has come across this.
The responses have very much took an attacking ridiculing approach instead.

Ah, but if the Wasps do extremely well, with big crowds swollen by a CCFC contingent, won't that give Timmy the opportunity to go cap in hand for a reduced rental deal, or even a share of their F&B's?

Judging by the strength of feeling and outrage by some of franchising on here.
It would be very surprising if there isn't

By who ?
I've only seen a few CCFC fans interested in such and Wasps and CovRFC seem "ok-ish" with it.

We need to move on and put efforts into getting CCFC engaged.

Why are SISU so quiet ??

Or maybe they don't really give a toss about wasps either way and there will be no protests. They are just moaning on here because the council made a decision that affected the football club. They would have preferred the city as a whole to miss out on the off chance SISU changed their minds and bid again for ACL.
(Now that is me actually fishing. )
