Pleased for him. New surroundings may have been the confidence boost he needed

I'd also say Rushworth saves Sakamotos goal.

Why would Rushworth run all the way up to the other end of the pitch to save his own teammates shot?

Collins wasn't a bad keeper in the season he first came in, he just lost all confidence once he made a mistake.

Something must have happened but I doubt we'll ever know what. He went from looking decent to looking like he'd never played football before and was scared of the ball.

In all honesty I thought his career would be over the way he was playing so it's great to see he's turned it around and is playing well at Burton.

Have we got a recall clause in the loan? Just to give Rushworth some decent competition.

I’d like to recall him just so that we can sell him to Birmingham or Wrexham for 10M in the Jan window. So I hope keeps doing well at Burton.

I may be being hypocritical as i'm all for rinsing underperforming or just plain shite players on here, places like this are for venting really imo but i don't see the point in continuing to bash him. He's gave us some rotten performances but on a human level he looked a broken mess so i'm happy that he seems to be in a better place as well as being happy he'll never pull on a CCFC shirt again.

GKs and strikers need an arrogance to get over errors and misses, without that when things start going bad it’s hard to turn things around. Collins has got some good attributes to be a decent keeper but just didn’t seem to be able to get over mistakes, that lack of confidence then spreads to defence. Good to see a new start has helped him

He let goals in and fans lambasted him. His confidence crashed. Players are aware of the thoughtless shit fans put on social media. Then the same so called fans try and blame the goalkeeping coach.

The same fans that binned off Allen, Latibeaudiere, Simms, Eccles, Brandon Thomas Asanti, Wright and Simms. All gone in summer apparently

Can we keep hold of Aled Williams in the summer, and would Rushworth even come back if he leaves?

Look Aled, if your sweating about not being offered a deal in the summer you need to take those concerns to Frank and Doug. We're powerless on here to help you.

Worth another bump.

If there was a Coach of the Season award then it would have to go to Aled, right?

I guess it’s easier to work with a goalie who can save the ball and has bottle.

Why ? Has he turned Rushworth from a poor keeper into a brilliant one ?

There is a reason Brighton turned down our £5m bid in the summer for Rushworth…. He’s a bloody good keeper with high potential.

It’s impossible to assess the impact we have had on his capability.

Last season he couldn’t get in the Hull team. Now he’s the best keeper in the league.

He was injured for virtually his entire time at Hull to be fair.

Even better coaching then

The point is that if Aled Williams was directly responsible for Brad Collins’ change in fortunes then the same surely applies to Rushworth…

The first page of this thread is some wild reading btw!

But a lot of very good players make poor managers. Lampard is one. Mark Hughes is another.

Don't think people had concerns because of one thing. People had concerns because we had more than one keeper come in who regressed to the point of looking like they'd never played football before.

The regression was on a scale that is unusual for one player so when it happened again people were looking for the common link.

Who knows what happened, doubt we'll ever find out.

It was always a nonsensical argument, especially considering the first keeper who supposedly “regressed to the point of looking like they’d never played football” had some well documented personal issues and is currently on the books of a PL club.

Not sure the strongest argument for the coaching here being great is the players leaving and improving!!!

We have a great keeper now and hopefully he'll stay if we go up. Past that I don't really care who is coaching him as long as both Rushworth and Lampard are happy.

It’s also not a great argument for a single coach being able to somehow irreparably break a player, which is what he has been accused of.

Williams has overseen two different keepers finish in the league Team of the Season. It will probably be three by the end of next month. In truth I think it’s hard for fans to gauge the impact of individual coaches, but from the outside looking in it seems like he’s doing a good job.
