History repeats itself. Came across this poem written during 1869 pandemic, reprinted during 1919 pandemic. Photo taken during Spanish flu in 1919.

This is Timeless....

Written in 1869 by Kathleen O’Mara

And people stayed at home
And read books
And listened
And they rested
And did exercises
And made art and played
And learned new ways of being
And stopped and listened
More deeply
Someone meditated, someone prayed
Someone met their shadow
And people began to think differently
And people healed.
And in the absence of people who
Lived in ignorant ways
Dangerous, meaningless and heartless,
The earth also began to heal
And when the danger ended and
People found themselves
They grieved for the dead
And made new choices
And dreamed of new visions
And created new ways of living
And completely healed the earth
Just as they were healed.

The 1869-70 Russian flu pandemic killed around 1 million people
The 1918-20 Spanish flu pandemic killed around 50 million people

That's lovely. Only trouble is, we know we will not 'make new choices.'

It will be rinse and repeat unfortunately.

Annoying then that it is being passed off as if it were written 150 years ago. Grrr.

This is the world we inhabit these days, where we often have no idea whether certain things are true or not.

I heard a story just yesterday that Cadbury have had to stop using the tag 'the crumbliest chocolate' due to copyright, but of course, that may just be flake news.
