We should have completely overhauled the squad and reduced the wage bill signifantly so we could pay off the most debts with parachute payments. Then built froma steady base like WBA did.

With hindsight this would probably have been wise-our M69 neighbours have never looked back and Pompey seem to have turned it into a hobby.

There were no penalties then. Leicester started with a clean seat. The cost cutting after the first season was as bad as we saw last season. Problem was the debt was tied to the board. Mcginnity was a disasterous chairman.

The root of it all comes from Richardson wanting to take the club from perennial strugglers to top half/European contenders. The CET called him a 'pioneer' this year for having that ambition :facepalm:

Never understand the fuss about Aliosi. His career stats look average. Hughes at the time looked a good signing and we really should have been promoted that year.

Administration would've seemed the best bet. Get in there before there's a punishment, shaft all the creditors, and secure an easy promotion back up whilst all the other suckers try and pay the bills.

Got Dennis wise in at the start of our first season at the Ricoh.

Think of all the rents the council are now getting from those 100's of flats now standing on the HR site.Pity the club don't own the site now.

Not particularly ethical but fuck it, other teams have done it so honesty I wish we had before the penalties came in. A sliding rent scale should have been the original deal IMO and admin would be the perfect catalyst for renegotiation.

Made a massive push on fan engagement, cheap STs for those that had one when we got relegated, elected fan/s on the board. The works. Connect with local businesses, especially pubs near the Ricoh and people like Gary who does the coaches and the guy who does the canal boat. Make it a more coordinated effort, anyone trying to get fans to games is helping the club. Send reserve players along to local pubs, hold post match "press releases" in the casino so fans can ask questions. Put the club at the heart of the community. Free season tickets for all Primary School kids in coventry (with a paying adult per so many kids)

Follow the Ranson transfer model: spend on scouting young players who can be sold on for cheap, except this time don't sell at the first sight of cash.

Develop the academy. Immediately hire Rioch as he's been the best acquisition since relegation. Aim to fill 4/5 first team places and a couple on the bench.

Get a good long term manager in. I think Robins is the first manager since relegation I'd trust with a seriously long term contract. Stability was a big issue in our decade in the Championship.

Stick to a competitive, but affordable wage structure. Small losses (below say £1m/year) would be acceptable but nothing that puts the club at serious risk.

Reduce the capacity of the Ricoh to 22/25k for most matches once attendances start dropping off, even lower if needed. I know some people have an issue with it but IMO the Sheff Utd game proved that point.

Start negotiations on buying The Higgs share in the Ricoh. Develop the ground around with restaurants pubs/clubs. Make it a night time destination, use the canal as an attraction, get families to go to the Ricoh and stay there all day. Double the amount of concerts there. We should be stealing the NECs business. All of this would push the decision on the station our way earlier as well.

If we had gone into administration in 2007 or whenever it was. We could of started again, and been back in the football league by now.

In that first season, I think we'd have had a good chance of going back up if we'd kept the management team of the blessed Roland, Richard Money and Ray Clarke.

It all started to go wrong when McGinnity sacked Money, sidelined Clarke and brought in Jim Smith.

And don't get me started on the sacking of Eric Black..................:facepalm:

lots of people talking about parachute payments... I thought we were relegated before the parachute payment system started. Is this not why we have been in so much trouble for so long? Because we were forced to struggle along with premier league costs and division 1 income.

You would have to say Ranson not getting his wish of appointing Robins as manager nearly two years ago because he left and Thorn managed to keep us up in those last few games. You have to wonder what Robins could have done with that squad?

We should have hired a hitman to take out McGinnity. The man who sold our share in the stadium to Higgs for nothing and was at the heart of all things shit in the Ricoh fiasco and also ousted Eric Black for Peter Reid. Everyone kicks Richardson and Robinson for obvious reasons but McGinnity always seems to slip under the radar. Richardson had some vision but didn't have the business brain to back it up and Robinson put a lot of money into the club which can't be denied. McGinnity sold the silverware and supports the Baggies.

Should never have hired Jim Smith. An act of utter desperation from a Chairman who didn't have a clue!!
