Something to do with terrorism, the troubles in Northern Ireland was at its height. I went to that match George Best played and one of my all time favourites Eusebio, a truly great player would be worth millions today

If my memory serves me right it was in that game I saw Pat Jennings pull off one of the best saves I've ever seen right in the top corner in the angle between post and bar stood directly behind it on the kop . His hands looked just like shovel when he came close to pick the ball up.

Spotted that.
Another one we missed out on, City were interested in signing him in 1966 whilst he was playing for Newry Town and was the N.Ireland Youth team goalie, but Watford snapped him up where he played 48 games before being signed by Bill Nicholson for Spurs.

George Best was a genius but never rated Cov City as he said once what's the point in us as a club ? Why he said that not sure,but he disliked us.

I was at this game, it was a world cup qualifier and a 1-1 draw.
Despite the presence of two greats, one washed up and the other still the main man for Portugal, the loudest cheers were for Sky Blue great Dave Clements who was then a Sheffield Wednesday or Everton player.

We had Bill Glazier at the time, so not really a 'miss' by not signing Jennings.
Glazier was out for a year with a broken leg and only returned later in 1966, maybe Jennings was seen as a young understudy or cover at the time.
Doesn't really matter because he didn't come and Glazier came back even stronger.

I liked Bob Wesson a keeper we had before Glazier.He could be dodgy at times a trait many keepers seem to have,but on his day was outstanding.

Wesson was before my time but Bill Glazier was a top notch goalkeeper, he had a tendency to parry the ball ibut as a shot stopper he was first rate. He was in an era of super English stoppers and for me he was up there.
That he was a world record transfer a goalkeeper shows how good he was.

Wesson was capable of some remarkable saves at times but JH saw that for a promotion push, he needed a top goalkeeper and we secured the best one in the division in Glazier.
I agree with that, just a pity that our last couple of managers seem not to.

I remember this game. I was playing football just down from H/R when all the Liverpool / Arsenal fans were going past . H/R was a big ground in those days.

I remember going to Highfield Road to watch a Cup tie between Hull City v Bristol City in the late 60's. It was full and I was in the Spion Kop with the Hull fans. Back then I'd go to reserve games too,and as a kid me and a few mates sneaked in to watch a behind closed doors game,who were the City playing I can't recall.
In fact I'd go everywhere to watch a game !
