Waited a bit to post on here as the emotions of being relegated are usually high, they were with me when it happened to us 2 years ago and 9 years ago.
Firstly when it comes round to August no matter what you'll all be excited as football fans about the prospects of your team I'm sure, as any football fan is. Time is a healer and you will be proud of your team come the start of the season.
Words of advice is that this league is a lot more physical then it has been in the past and teams like Charlton and us who didnt play the greatest football compared to perhaps our neighbours or some of the lower teams e.g Hudders or Mk Dons, but the height and physicality of our teams was enough to win us games. Plus we personally didnt spend loads in creating a team that did the job, we just had the right men in charge now. So its easy for me to reminisce about how great our season was but its been magnified by the nightmare the season before. Sitting thorough 30 odd games and finishing in 16th in league one I was sick to the back teeth of the club, so don't have it in your heads that this league is easy.
But lads, be confident too, im sure you can keep a spine of good players together and the fact that so many players are available on frees or next to nothing these days makes it easier I guess, your team will have the advantage of the equivalent of the parachute payments which when we came down we did not. Also your stadium will literally attract players too.
Finally can I add, Sheffield Wednesday recieved a postcard from Sky Blues fans this morning in rememberance of the two lads who died in that horrific car crash on their way to the Ricoh a few years ago, I thought that was a touch of class from you guys so thanks a lot. I have a lot of time for your club. So I hope you can get back on the road to recovery soon, its not easy and few teams manage to do it quickly but eventually I reckon you'll be back as I'm sure you all know you will be.
Regards and good luck for the coming campaign.
