I think it's very disappointing personally. People complain about short termism but then seem happy that a promising young player is sold because they don't believe he'll put up with the physical L2 game. Bollocks.

I would normally agree with you. He looks to have what is needed to become a good player. But we need to get promoted this season. He is learning the game. We can't afford to have inexperienced players playing against big units for the first half of the season. We need a first team full of experienced players. Robins has been bringing such players in. Then bring in the younger players in to cover injuries and suspensions when needed. But they could do with a run of games to get experience.

Like I said last week maybe Swansea have a striker we could loan. And hopefully some of the money can bring in a couple of players.

Not too fussed to be honest. He's 20 years old not 17 and struggled to make our first team. He lacks pace, strength and mobility which are a must in the modern game. Swansea will have a better fitness and conditioning set up than the City which may improve him in the above areas. 50/50 if he will make it or not. Hope he does as he came across a decent kid and we need the money from the add ons. Good luck with your career.

Very talented player and has the potential to play at least at the top of the Championship in a couple of years. The move suits him and us. Still needs to fill out though and League 2 is no place for youngsters. Just hope Robins get some of the fee. Hopefully Thomas makes his move this week as well which could/should make a real difference to our transfer activity.

When you say he has fantastic talent - based on what?

Based on my personal opinion of course. Could be wrong, just like the Premier League team that has signed him on a on a 3 year deal could be wrong.

The way he receives the ball, calmness under pressure, sends people the wrong way with ease, can pick a pass and execute it. Really enjoyable to watch, and reminds me of Gary Gillespie. As many have said, nowhere near tough enough to be a proper defender at this stage (especially in League 2), but that can be developed with time.

Hope we’ve got a stake in his future value if he does make it in a big way.

Only seen him play a few times but what I have seen suggests to me he is a very good footballer. As a defender I'm not sure any of us know the level he can reach, even he doesn't know the answer to that question, I suppose. This is why the move for him comes at the right time and probably the right club. He is young enough to develop at get up to speed aswell as get stronger to cope physicallity at the level he is playing.

Training with better players, having better coaching all in a better environment could be all he needs to develop really fast and become a 1st team player. Right move for the player but time will tell us if it's the right move for the club and right price they got. Im not so sure selling the young players like this is the right way go, but I'm not sure we as a club have other options other than to balance the books.

I like him but he's left a 2nd division club for a Premiership club and had probably made himself considerably richer in the process.

Even if we had the best owners in the world nothings going to stop that happening, it's out of our control and not worth worrying about.

Garry Gillespie? Remind me what happened to him? Sold to a bigger club wasn't he?

I'he never seen any of his poems, but I believe he has the potential to make it as a second rate poet. He will benefit being in Wales as that's where Dylan Thomas lived.

We will alas never know if his play writing skills would have blossomed by being closer to Stratford.

Cheers Robo.

So out of that lot we have still got quite a few and lost Sambou to a tapping up.

Not a bad return esp at Maycock and Shipley look decent prospects too.

I've seen Maycock now quite a few times and I have to say I don't think he will progress into the first team.

Yep, eventually got a richly deserved move to Liverpool. Not sure what your point is?

That’s very true. But I never said Harries shouldn’t have been sold. As with Wilson and Maddison - it would have been great to watch them play for City for a few years (like we did with Gillespie), but given the state of the club I’ve long since accepted that we can’t keep anybody who’s any good.

My concern is simply whether we have structured the deal properly to benefit from a possible big increase in his value. Given the astronomical transfer fees now (£12m for Murphy, 40-something million for John Stones and 50-odd for Kyle Walker!), I really hope we’ve got a percentage of future sale built in and haven’t capped it at £1m.

We had 5 to 6 years out of him, these days we are lucky if we get a season out of promising talent.
