So zero goals in equivalent of three games is excellent?

And yes a lot of these are U21 level, but you can only score in the games you’re playing.

Hmmm, Ponticelli vibes.

Anyway, goals not really what he's about, ironically, and we got the best of him and that's all that matters I guess.

1 goal in 4 post COVID isn’t that bad. The entire point is taken as a whole he’s a goal scorer. Focusing on his worst ever spell (a 3 game spell in reality) is a little silly.

Sure. If we’d sold Ponticelli for £20m

U21 essentially meaningless though. What's meaningful is his past two seasons.

And his time in the German and Swedish second divisions? Also PL2 is not the same as L2 U23s.

When he was 18 /19 he scored 20 goals in 48 games in the Swedish 2nd and 3rd tier , then after that 7 goals in 26 in the German second tier .. didn't score at Swansea then scored 41 in 110 league games here , the latter 2 seasons being exceptional .

Vik is a goalscorer and an all round top forward

There's no argument

I can't believe there's an argument on here about whether Gyokeres was a decent goal scorer. Oh, hang on a minute.... I can.

Think he’ll be gone. Will be 10x more gutted than I was at losing Vik if so.

Would obviously be gutted to lose him, but £35m for two players that cost a combined 2.5m and a year left on their contracts would be really good business by the club

Absolutely correct. We know it is highly likely his agent will be pushing like mad for massive wages, so do we cash in + player??? It is disappointing to see such a player leave but we have to trust that we would have someone lined up to replace him.

We can't replace Gus on a like- for - like basis any more than we could find a clone of Vic. But other teams outperformed us with neither of them, We just have to find similar quality and accept that we might have to play to their strengths for a while

Not only that, their fans are unbearable. It will also be frustrating to lose a player to a club like Burnley.

Still think he's staying. Also think him and Vik leaving in the same window would be awful for the club no matter how much cash we got in. Ripping the spine out of a team who lets face performed pretty well. You build around those players.

The lack of a contract announcement and the ramping up of stories in the press doesn't look great. At this stage if it's all been signed, why not just announce it?
