These pair are class together and the understanding will only get better as the season goes on. Both look comfortable at this level. A shining light in this team.

Got to be realistic and say that I don’t think there is any way we will see Hamer playing in a Coventry shirt next season.
Sheaf seems to now be finding his feet, so if the reported £900k is true then I can also see a potential very quick (Jarni-esque) profit made there

Think both will become an immovable force in our midfield playing alongside matty James and they will be able to play and supply (and in hamers case score) the front players to the target of staying in the championship.

I think we will see Hamer further forward now James coming in will give us the AM we need if we use Hamer then he’s clearly capable we have Kelly, sheaf & James at CDM with Hamer filling in if he needs too,if we bring a striker in we are set.

Quite a bit on sky sports news today about the new rules re signing players from abroad and how much more difficult it is. Reckon one of the reasons we got him was because his agent wanted him in the country pre rule change as would make it very difficult to sign for a prem team now if he was still in holland not being a full international

As I've said before he's exceptional at most things for his role.

Top 10 in the league for:
Short Passes per 90
Tackles per 90
Long Pass Accuracy
Interceptions

He used to be in the Top 10 for Short Pass Accuracy too but dropped just below in last few weeks

If only he'd smile more...

Backwards to the keeper no doubt or some other ridiculous justification. Literally the worst thing you can say about Sheaf based off that thread is “Our deep lying midfielder doesn’t create many chances”. Even if dribbling he’s not far off Hamer so the idea he gets caught on the ball nonsense too.

I assume he’s in there and not Kelly on minutes played, do we have any idea where Kelly would sit if he was on there?

Short pass is obvious tbh, part of the argument... Long pass accuracy is just that, accuracy, could pass long 4 times a year if they all hit its 100%....
I am however surprised by the interceptions and tackles... I am ofcourse pleased that this is the case.

Still not sold though

Just found a couple stats , couple unrelated.

O hare draws the most fouls in the team, average nearly 3 a match
O hare also makes the most tackles a match in the team joint with Sam mac

Hyam makes the most passes on average in the team(not completed) and sheaf and hamer both average the same in joint 2nd

Hes 13th out of about 50 for long pass frequency on that graph. “Constant Hollywood ball” (not your comment) Hamer is 7th.

Minimum is 10 starts, Kelly only has 9.
He's miles off Sheaf's numbers anyway.

Kelly's Pass Accuracy is 72%
Long Pass Accuracy 41%
Tackles is 1.4 pg from 2.4 attempts

Looking at the stats, he does have good passing stats...
The creative charts show hamer to be a fucking animal.

It's the part of sheafs game I think and have argued he needs to improve on, those stats do suggest that is the case... Hamer has also played the role but tops the charts basically.

So basically... His stats show him as a defensive midfielder, not particularly a deep lying playmaker, would you agree?

To clarify : I'm saying his passing stats are very good

BTW lad from Norwich looks good, Oliver skipp

On loan from spurs

It’s because he takes set pieces. There open play would be more similar but I don’t have it to hand

This is a decent overview https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/17/Show/England-Coventry but the stats these accounts put out are likely from paid services

Open Play only Hamer has 11 Key Passes from 1538 mins. i.e. 0.007 per 90mins, identical to Sheaf.

Looking at that site you tagged me, Liam Kelly has better offensive stats than sheaf too... Sheaf is clearly (well judging the stats ) playing a flat out defensive midfield role this season, and tbh playing it well according to the stats...

Be nice if he can add a couple assists goals here and there to his game

Looking at the opta stats website and looking into key passes, it reads (also said on a couple forums I looked at on the subject) set pieces and crosses from corners don't fall into the key pass category, rather 2nd assist category... Can you clarify or correct me... I'm not completely sure what to take from it

Assists are massively unreliable & rarely used in scouting & analysis anymore.

As an example:

Remember when Biamou hit the bar from about 3 yards vs Reading when it looked easier to score?
That would have been an assist for Sheaf.

On the other hand, take O'Hare's goal at Southend last season. He picked up a basic 2 yard sideways pass from McCallum just inside their half then beat multiple players to score a great individual goal.
McCallum got an assist for that.
