If I had a hamer
I'd hamer in the morning
I'd hamer in the evening
All over this land
I'd hamer out danger
I'd hamer out a warning
I'd hamer out love between
My brothers and my sisters
All over this land, uh

He's Brazilian
He only cost city a million
And he's flipping brilliant
It's gustavo hamer
To the tune Everton sing about richarlison

He knocks em out,
And plays is square,
If you see him coming,
Then get out his f*ckin way,
Cos he's a,
Dedicated footballer for City...

Gustavo Hamer loves City
Goals and headbutts, there's enough for everyone
He runs the show for Coventry
But don't worry, you can fight him

I'll see myself out

Bob Marley's Redemption Song (though I prefer the Joe Strummer version)

ORIGINAL:

Oh pirates, yes, they rob I
Sold I to the merchant ships
Minutes after they took I
From the bottomless pit
But my hand was made strong
By the hand of the Almighty
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly
Won't you help to sing
These songs of freedom?
'Cause all I ever have
Redemption songs
Redemption songs
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery
None but ourselves can free our minds
Have no fear for atomic energy
'Cause none of them can stop the time
How long shall they kill our prophets
While we stand aside and look? Ooh
Some say it's just a part of it
We've got to fullfil the book

HAMERISED:

Oh Hamer, yes, he robs you
Of the ball and gives it to Ships
Minutes after he gets booked
By a ref so shit
Now his leg was made strong
By the hand of the Almighty
He forwards it with penetration
Triumphantly

So won't you help to sing
These songs of Hamer?
'Cause all we ever want
Gus Hamer songs
Gus Hamer songs

Appropriate yourselves with his mental bravery
None as good can win the ball
Have no fear for his lack of energy
He will run into a wall
How long shall he kill opponents
While we stand aside and look? Ooh
Some say it's just a part of it
but he'll end up in the book

So won't you help to sing
These songs of Hamer?
'Cause all we ever want
Gus Hamer songs
Gus Hamer songs

I think there’s still a couple of pronunciations of Hamer, “Haymer” and “Harmer”. Heard them both used repeatedly. Someone on here mentioned that in Dutch the “a” sound is usually pronounced “ah” but I have no clue.

The “Harmer” version can rhyme with Tropicana, maybe.

Don’t Clive etc tend to say “Haymer”? Better sort them out. Better still would be if they’d ask him how he says it, his name after all.

I've also heard people saying "Ham-air" . Lends itself to the tune 'In the air tonight' by Phil Collins. Not sure about 'I can feel it coming in Ham-air tonight, oh lord' though.

Ah didn’t realise he was born in Brazil and only moved because he was spotted by Feyenoord.

Still think someone should ask him. In fact it would show respect for any player with a name that can be pronounced in different ways to simply ask them and let the fans / media know. That way we all get it right. Right?

To the the tune of ‘my old mans a dustman’:

His names Gustavo Hamer,
He hails from Brazil,
He gets a lot of yellows,
But he comes with bags of skill

His names Gustavo Hamer,
Brazilian or Dutch
If SISU can get £5m
They'll say thank you very much!

Everywhere he goes,
He picks up yellows,
From 30 yards,
He’s scoring with headers,

Shall we tell them,
Who he is,
He’ll come to your ground,
And he will take the piss

Gustavo Hamer,
He plays for Coventry,
Brazil or Denmark,
Could play for both countries

Gustavo Hamer x4

Is that true? It's not exactly a source of truth but Wikipedia says he was adopted and raised in the Netherlands.

Equally shitty source I was using the CT

Looking at a few other profiles o think you’re right he was adopted. So maybe Hamer is a Dutch name. In which case it is Harmer not Haymer.
