£6m is nothing compared to what we’d get if we went up, if he comes in does the business, gets fit and in shape over the summer he could be a real attribute next season if we were in the Premier League.

Yeah, for me it’s all going to come down to fitness. I’m not sure I’d want us to sign many unfit players in the position we’re in…maybe Gus is one of the exceptions. Depends how unfit he really is.

One of my eldest sons client WAS Gus' agent before he became very seriously ill, that's how I knew he was moving on long before it was common knowledge.

My son has consistently maintained Gus would be back.

If he comes then obviously Lampard thinks he's got something to offer so I'm good with that but I don't see it happening

Ordinarily I like us to avoid signing ex players as I think it's best for everyone to move on, and the second spell is usually underwhelming. However for someone of his quality I'd definitely explore it. Just thinking of the through balls he could play to the likes of EMC and Wright would give us a real X-factor and added thread in midfield. Having said that, he looks in horrendous shape at the moment and needs to sort himself out. It's a hard one, probably best to move on in reality.

is this the idea that anyone who isn't into Hamer coming back is just butthurt from him leaving? I'm glad we sold him for what we did and bought a chunk of this squad. Expect that's how a lot of folks see it.
