My apologies, as this thread has been posted numerous times , but with our impending January window approaching & if rumours be true ( they still owe us £6 million ) , would this piece of business to get him back , give us our best chance of promotion ?

Was my favourite player when he was here, but I personally wouldn’t have him back.

I don’t think it would be a wise piece of business given how he reportedly looks after himself. The way he plays the game and with him approaching 30; in short I’m not expecting him to have a long career at the higher levels.

I just typed all that and then realised I’d be absolutely over the moon if he was one of our January signings. What am I on about haha.

No thanks. He jumped at the chance to move to the footballing giants that are Sheff Utd and his best days are now behind him.

Would love it to happen, brilliant in the championship and good enough for the prem, would give us the option in midfield of, hamer, grimes, torp, rudoni, who wouldn’t want that

He had one of his best runs of form for us when Sheaf was injured in 2023

Is it true they still owe us £6M? Why isn't Doug all over this?

The only ex player I'd take is Vic, and I suspect that won't happen.

Anything due is part of whatever the payment terms were, we are still being paid on time . They have a suspended points penalty if they default on any payments this season.

That owed money is ours whether he moves to us or not. It’s not a discount code. It doesn’t make him cheaper !

It’s no from me.

I rated Gus highly when he was here but part of what Frank expects from his players is to train with absolute intensity, to be pro on and off the pitch. Your big players to set the standards and to hold others to account. He has said this in various interviews. I don't see Gus being that player.

Sign him in January and he might be up to Frank's fitness level requirement by October.

If he got into good shape he’d be a top asset however I think we could get a cheaper alternative

thought he’d be back in the prem last season and guessing he didn’t think they’d be where they are this season still one of the best players in the league, why would you not want him

If we are going up we won't be wanting a Spurs light weight. We can do much better.

I also find it difficult to believe they still owe us £6 million. Where has that come from?
