Finally been confirmed for this year, will be Friday July 4 to Sunday July 6. Who would you like to see?

Personally I'd go for the Manics as headliner. Don't think they've ever played there, have a new album out next week and have already announced a couple of regional festival dates so should be possible to get them. The only Midlands date on their headline tour sold out months ago so no need to worry about them having other local dates that clash.

Would love to see some of the local bands get better slots on the main stage, some cracking bands that have absolutely no chance of breaking through in the current music/economic climate. Proud history of great acts from the area, they're still there just all the money is in 1 fella with a laptop these days creating generic crap

Coventry's local music scene is really vibrant and on the up now . Yes you are right with money and focus of music industry now .

I'd put them on a par with Ashcroft, Libertines etc. who have all played in recent years and put them lower than Tom Grennan (in terms of current popularity/relevance) and of course they are local. I am actually amazed that they have never played it before!!

OCS last played Cov in 2010 Kasbah James played support at Warwick Uni late 80s to early 90s nothing since .OCS are playing Utila
Arena cap around 16K Jamie T is good shout last time he played HMV Empire he didn't know it was a venue rather than an instore gig so turned up without his band . So he owes us one !

Bands and artists that are actually making decent, new music and not just riding the nostalgia gravy train would be good

e.g. Shame, Crack Cloud, Alex G, Animal Collective, Charlotte Adigery, ANONHI, Actress, billy woods, Four Tet, FKA twigs.

Line up is always safe and boring. Give people into music something to get excited about instead of just stuff for their dads.

was brilliant in the first few years when you had multiple stages running all day and you'd get all the up and coming artists playing but budget cuts put an end to that.

I know, but it's not like you can't have a mix. Have some nostalgia sh*te and some current stuff. Use nostalgia to sell the tickets, have few current acts make it decent. I can dream.

Said this for the last couple of years but I don't think this weird middle ground between a free festival and a full price festival really works.

There's loads of regional festivals now that started out after Godiva, basically as copies, that have gone down the fully paid route, often with cheaper tickets for local residents, and to me thats the better option.

Used to live in Pompey and a few years back Victorious started as something similar to what Godiva used to be and look at the line up now.

Have to say that previously I have been against this but I think this is probably the sensible way to go and especially if they do like they did for Radio 1's Big Weekend where a certain percentage of tickets went to people within the CV postcode.

Don't think it's financially viable to continue in its current format anyway.

John Power is a top bloke, and Cast wrote some tunes (Guiding Star is gold), but making Godiva a 'My Music Taste Stops in 96' festival is a grim way to go.

Edit: if you claim you like guitar music but don't like 'Drunk Tank Pink', you're past saving.

I know mate was just taking the piss. One of the best acts I have ever saw up there was The Slaves when I knew very little about them and they were immense so very much would welcome a mixture of new and old.

And anyway us 90's kids have always got the Butlins weekenders.

Not sure if anyone else remembers, but Six By Seven were absolutely brilliant when they did the Godiva.

I was literally just thinking the same. My folks live in Pompey now, and I’ve got my tickets for this years festival. The line up is ridiculous right?
Is there a reason Cov couldn’t do the same? The memorial park is much bigger than Southsea common.

Got tickets to Saturday and Sunday but the closer it gets the less I’m looking forward to it.

Actually, it’s just the Saturday that I have no enthusiasm for. I think it’s the not really knowing any of the artists coupled with just being a miserable c**t who doesn’t want to pay for overpriced shit beers whilst standing in the rain.

Hopefully Ocean Colour Scene and the Monday off work rescue it for me.

Yeah I remember the final year before they implemented proper fencing and ticket checks, after a certain time it would descend into chaos and riot police would turn up.

Much more exciting
