Getting music from CD to Iphone (3 Viewers)

I buy CDs as i like something recognisable as an album - it seems as if itunes no longer will allow me to put the CD tracks in my library and sinc them to my phone and ipod using my computer - i am just not savvy enough - i have device manager and Apple music on my computer but getting songs onto my devices seems bloody impossible - any ideas ? itunes just has podcasts now when i open it

In iTunes on PC, choose what happens when you insert a CD, import songs from a CD and solve problems importing songs from CDs.

Import songs from CDs into your iTunes library​

iTunes imports most songs in a few minutes, and an entire CD in about 10 minutes.

1. Go to the iTunes app
   
   on your PC.
2. Insert an audio CD into your computer’s CD or DVD drive, or into an external drive that’s connected to your computer.
   If you can’t see info for the CD, click
   
   near the top left of the iTunes window.
3. Choose what you want to do in the window that appears:
   • Import all songs on the CD: Click Yes. iTunes starts importing the CD. When it’s finished, go to step 6.
   • Prevent certain songs from being imported: Click No and go to step 3.
4. When the list of songs appears in the iTunes window, click to remove the tick next to any songs you don’t want to import.
   If you can’t see tick boxes next to the songs, choose iTunes > Preferences, click General, then make sure “List view tick boxes” is selected.
   If you’re not connected to the internet or if iTunes can’t find the CD’s information, songs appear as “Track 01”, “Track 02” and so on. See If you can’t see songs in iTunes.
5. To add the selected songs to your library, click Import CD near the top right of the iTunes window.
6. Choose your import options, then click OK.
   You can continue to use iTunes while songs are being imported.
   To cancel importing, click Stop Importing. Any songs that iTunes imports before you cancel importing are added to your iTunes library.
7. When the songs have finished being imported, click
   
   near the top right of the iTunes window.

Once the songs are imported into your iTunes library, you can play them, create a playlist with them and more.

Thanks - seems iTunes has morphed into podcasts only once updated - if I put a cd in it will play on media player but I can’t get the phone to show up in the Apple Music app ( I don’t pay for Apple Music) but obviously have a Apple ID - it says you need to pay to synchronise which is daylight robbery as I am providing my own music via the CDs

Download "Audacity". I use it all the time. It's agreat music editing program. Load music from CD into Audacity, then export the track to desktop. Open track and save to your own named directory. Then save to a memory stick. I have hundreds of albums and tracks downloaded from YouTube. Saved them to my desktop via Audacity and then transfer to a memory stick to play in my car.

I can understand that but My favourite piece of equipment is my iPod which is full of 2700 tracks - it’s a 5 S version and brilliant for helping me sleep - normally listen to one album a night that sends me to sleep - it is nice to add music and it’s this one that apple have seemed to make impossible to add to without paying extra by using this it doesn’t use my phones battery - I take it everywhere on holiday , on my motorcycle on a plane

If you're lucky enough to have a CD drive, does work?

Hi Nick. I bought a new laptop about a year ago. It didn't have a CD drive, which is the new norm. However, I googled "external CD drives" and found one. You just plug it into a USB port and hey presto, you have a cd drive to use. Hope this helps others who want to play their cd's via a laptop.
