With the right partner up front could he be a 20 goal a season forward? He took his goal well and when I've seen him in the past his ball control is excellent. Could the player we are looking for actually be under our noses?

No, it's too soon. He only turned 18 a few months back and is still physically developing, and won't be playing 90 mins week in week out.

Needs the right type of partner imo a Dion Dublin type to lead the line, hold up play and take the weight and he'll have a chance

A good player for the future but needs time, needs nurturing etc. next season or the one after we will see the best of Thomas. This season should be one of development. I reckon he will play a part in about 1/3 games

I am sure he has the capability of becoming a 20 goal a season player. But he is not ready for week in week out first team football. He is one to two years away yet from regular first team football.

Think he will only be a bit part player this season. When he played last season he was like a little boy lost.

Still really raw and needs to beef up a bit.

Needs more time I feel.

Nice to know though we have a prospect and i suppose at the moment thats all he is, someone has put good work into the academy over recent years now hopefully starting to bear fruit, shame they sacked him.

OK, he may not be a Wayne Rooney, but at 18 he'd played 77 1st team games for Everton and then transferred to Man U. Made his full England debut at 17.

If TM thinks he is ready and the lad has the ability - bring him on!!!!!!

I don't know if you guys saw the video of Harres the kid centre back who has a sweet left foot? Nearly every ball he pumped forward was met by Thomas with amazing composure. I think we have a few gems in the background

You are right simon there does seem to be some gems in the youth set up and i believe we have the right manager to get them right and also why he is signing older players to give the on field leadership they'll need. I also go with Sbarcher, if your good enough you're old enough, Harry Kane for example, 19 isn't he ? Sterland how many million aged 20 ?

He would need someone of Reda's build up top with him to be a success this season. He only really managed one chance at goal yesterday, and boy did he take it, but it only came from a long ball up field that caught out their CB. 7

He had no chance of winning headers (despite his best efforts) so would certainly need someone who was going to win headers, knock it down, lay it off etc up top with him. Hes not lone striker.

I have high hopes for him though, which is strange considering when I seen him last season he did look like a little boy lost on almost every occasion.

But he is still only young, and seems to be progressing, which can only benefit us in the long run.

I follow 18's and 21's and I did notice last year that they seem to have a good connection. Thomas makes the runs and Harries nearly always picks him out. They also play together for Wales U19's so maybe that helps

As far as people saying "He has the talent, throw him in!" Wayne Rooney is a world class footballer, arguably the best footballer we as a country have had for the last 20 years, scary ability.

Look at the players lately we've had who've been thrown in too early, Finch and Haynes stick out, they've really gone backwards thanks to lost confidence. Even more worryingly Thomas' confidence will come from goals. It's too early for him to be playing week in and week out, however he has great potential. Be nice to see him bag a couple from the bench and then who knows. But we cannot at any cost start him week in and out expecting fireworks. Wilson evidence of that, didn't really kick on until the age of 21 AND the right strike partner.

I thought he played well, probably our best player on the night. He's a lot bigger build than Maddison and hes apparently going to be our top player this year if you listen to some. Looks more like a second striker to me who will play off another. Good movement and ball control. Had a good volley in the first 1/2 which their keeper saved.

Extremely hard worker from what I've seen will run and Chase everything and like Maddison highly confident in his ability.

Thomas is a prospect, one for the future. He can't be our main striker though, too much pressure too soon. But I do know that's not TMs plan.

Pretty sure Tuesday was the first time I'd seen him play. Was impressed but as others have said we need to be careful not to expect too much from him. Hopefully the squad will allow for him to be gradually introduced to the first team.
