I think it's one of the several things that appears innocuous but suddenly has a appropriate time to be discussed. Hank Azaria stepping down as Apu took me by surprise as while it was blatantly a stereotype it was never played with malice so I assumed it was all fine, but the documentary a few years ago tells a different story from one of the voices represented so I think it's good that people seem increasingly likely to listen. Is it me or are people going a bit overboard I mean its a cartoon character and you see the puppet on screen not the bloke behind the microphone. You have actors putting on accents be it black, white, scouse, cockney, Russian sounding. The voice of Bart is done by a woman, its called acting ffs. Are people really offended by this, if so I apologise I just don't get this one at all.Not sure if this has been posted, but Mike Henry who voices Cleveland in Family Guy, is stepping down from the role. He tweeted saying people of colour should play characters of colour.
Going from his tweet, he will still voice Consuela, who is a Hispanic maid....
