If you ever bother to go there you will find that it is called both Derry and Londonderry. The locals seem to manage quite well with this.

I have been there which is how I know.

I have some family there and been many times and I'm yet to hear anyone call it Londonderry. Protestant or catholic. The only place it's called Londonderry as far as I can tell is on maps.

The comparison is entirely appropriate. The socialist anti growth economic strategy that Corbynomics is advocating will do exactly that. The promises are wide ranging - the reality will be economic and social meltdown beyond anyones worst nightmares

The worst economic meltdown we have experienced in modern times was a result of the deregulation on steroids that Thatcher and her free market addicts supported. Heaven forbid we pay teachers, nurses and police wages in line with inflation in this country Grendel.

Interesting you bring up social meltdown when we have had two terror attacks on home soil since the election was called under our strong and stable Prime Minister.

Nope. Mr Corbyn in the 80's along with McDonnell were considered nut jobs. Galloway type nutters.

You can try and rewrite history all you want but the fact is they were pro IRA, openly supported violent a finite against the British government and its only as they find themselves where they are that they are attempting to change what they once were. They didn't want peace they wanted war and agreed with the approach of the IRA

McDonnell was appalled at the peace process

If everything said about Corbyn was false he would easily be able to stop it and become very rich through damages. Now it is all down to damage limitation. And people fall for it.

Well, here we are on the eve of the General Election and I haven't got a clue who to vote for or even whether to vote at all.
Whilst historically leaning to the right, I'm not at all taken with the arrogance that seems to have enveloped the Conservative party. Last time round I had a visit from the defending Conservative MP who must have been sweating on the outcome. As it turned out, he got elected by a 7% majority (including my vote), but we haven't seen anything of him this time. Maybe he is quietly confident - although I don't know why - and resources have been diverted elsewhere? Just a tacky A4 leaflet shoved through the door, similar in style to the Liberal Democrats and Greens.
As for Labour, their canvassing has been very organised and at least they have tried to engage on the doorstep. I have warmed to the theme of 'for the many, not the few' but am very dubious of the leadership qualities at national level of Corbyn, McDonnell, Abbott and Thornberry and how it would all be paid for. They're on a par with the champagne socialism practicised by the obnoxious Blair, whilst sharing the ability to bankrupt the country in the process.
So is it a vote for the have it alls, the want it alls or the never will haves? Not an inspiring choice at all.

Why is it that another persons opinion has become "far right" or "far left" not every person that votes to the right is a Nazi and not every person the votes to the left is a communist, these are playground political attitudes, perpetuated by half wits who lack the brain power to have a honest, respectful debate

The whole thing is a vicious circle. Labour spend too much. The Tories slash services. We need a happy medium. And the Lib Dems are not up to it.

I'm glad he has kept his ability to enunciate, I feared he wouldn't when he left the BBC for "personal reasons" £££££. Nice to see he has added a special "panto like" head thrashing so the plebs that only watch Mr Kyle on his channel can understand him.

He met Gerry Adams, he met Martin McGuinnes, he attended Socialist rallies, that is the
Truth, do you think he was meeting them in NI because he wanted to congratulate them
On their latest bombing campaign.
Do you think he was a bloodthirsty murderer (friend of) that rejoiced in the death of
innocent people,
Or do you think he's a man with ideas and ideals, a man who will seek out peace whatever
It takes, the carrot will get you further than the stick........eventually.

Hope so, but sadly can't see it happening.
Spoke to a Scottish friend today about the talk that the Tories might take some seats in Scotland, his reply was "It isn't just talk, their basing their campaign around being the unionists and its working". The idea of the Tories taking Scotland is unheard of :/.
The fact their manifesto is full of uncosted gibberish that boils down to "BREXIT!" and "Don't worry your head, just trust us, we know best" that can only be described as beyond arrogant and yet their ahead in the polls? It just beggars belief.

Corbyn might not be the best leader, but he's a charismatic guy, he condemns violence on all sides (including Trident) and is much more 'strong and stable' than TM appears to be. All politicians have a past, but I'd rather trust the guys in red than blue. Remember maggie sold everything off, it was the Tories that got us into this mess in the first place by privatising everything and deregulation (which continued up to Blair).

Oh dear.. the ink is barely dry on the 700 million pounds contract that Our prime minister
has signed to supply Saudi Arabia with weapons, and BOOM.
Two ISIS terrorists have blown up the Iranian parliament, that's right' the notoriously hard-

Hardline fanatical Muslim groups.
Saudi Arabia firmly in the frame, Just after Trump and May called in to say hello as well.
If there was trouble in the Mid East already, it's like a pimple on the end of a poisonous
Wart infested Nob, compared to what it's going to be.

In other news Jeremy Corbyn knew Martin McGuinness and Jerry Adams, oh and hmm
Diane Abbot is shit at maths.

Including promoting mr Adams book in Westminster? No I think the former not the latter.

I don't believe Mr Mcdonnells apology.

I consider both of them apologists for violence - I consider both of them hypocrites.

I read a similar blog yesterday relating to Brexit, with source material from both left and right leaning economists. It was pretty worrying to be honest, and suggested that neither of the main parties has a grip on it.

More like family time is more important than having people chat shit telling me how good Corbyn is. Yes he has continually refused to condemn those he called brave. He continued to change the subject. Have you not been watching the debates?

If anyone didn't have a clue about him and read this thread they would think he is the best Labour leader for generations. He doesn't have any faults because others have done similar things. That makes him the perfect leader. I have asked a few times about the other Labour strong MP"s that would join him in a government. Totally got ignored.

I look forward to coming back to this thread on Friday when it goes into meltdown if Labour don't win. Just like the Brexit one. I didn't vote for Brexit just like I won't be voting Conservative. But some people just don't want to look further than their nose when it is a lifelong belief or something that is a benefit for themself.

Goodnight and enjoy the next day or two.

In fairness to him he is coming from a similar angle to me, doesn't really have a viewpoint on who is best and thinks they're all shit.

Whilst it is very insightful and there is a a lot of good debate here, it's a bit full on in this thread if you aren't voting labour.

I don't mean that in a nasty way at all.

I think this result may be different from what people were expecting...
