I still wonder if, when it comes to it, people can bring themselves to vote for the alternative.

Another day, another low.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a grown up election where the actual issues were discussed and debated.

Right. Don’t tax any company that is successful because it’ll hurt the customers. Got it.

Is there anyone at all you think should pay tax?

Yes...everyone. And they should all pay a fair share. By taxing something that is so widely needed - everything will inflate as a result. So the most needy are going to get shat on...which I thought you would be against?

But those with money by definition produce things everyone needs. Are you against a tech tax because they have a lot of users? A carbon tax because lots of people drive? You can literally Male this argument about any tax other than the nichest of Sin taxes.

The Tories can get far lower than that.

It basically means it’s been kicked into the long grass. “Well ask someone to report” just means “we’ll do nothing” in reality.

Also LOL at “commemorating these people means you hate all the other people”. Do better.

He said ‘I’m happy to commemorate all those who died fighting for an independent Ireland’.” That's pretty clear, surely you can see that?

As a politician, making a statement that ‘I’m happy to commemorate all those who have lost their lives during the conflict” would have been more easily defended don't you think? Sitting on the fence at least as to who he means, rather than siding with just IRA deaths as he did.

I imagine if he had added "and fuck the innocent civilians and soldiers who died" you would still be defending him

Or, of course, you could consider that this tax is to disincentivise use of oil seeing as we want to move towards a more sustainable future. Taxing oil companies more heavily will encourage companies and industries reliant on oil to look at other more sustainable (and possibly cheaper) alternatives. That is the over-arching point of this tax measure - it’s a method of behavioural change.

Interesting as this is Melanie Onn's seat, one of the most pro-Brexit Labour MPs there is who voted in favour of Johnson's deal.

Rather oddly also suggests Brexit Party voters are trying to remove someone who supports Brexit.

Then in that case it would have to be not voting.

During the debate Corbyn said 3 months negotiating a new deal then another referendum in 6 months with that deal and Remain as the choices (so chances are effectively soft Brexit or no brexit given the stance of many in the Labour party). Now, you may not believe that because you think the timescale is completely off and a 3 month renegotiation isn't going to happen. Everything so far says it won't anyway. Personally I think it'd be like last time with an open choice to campaign for the deal or remain rather than being whipped. But that is the policy that has been stated.

I don't understand what the Labour leader intends to do matters that much? It is surely the party policy that matters. Cameron, Tory leader and PM, wanted to remain. Outcome was completely against what he wanted. Alexander chose to back leave even though historically he's been more of a Remainer. May was a Remainer but spent two years negotiating an exit deal due to party policy.

I'm also surprised that for you it has to be Labour or no-one. I find that a very dangerou mindset that if followed by all would just result in a two-aprty system which would get more and more extreme in their position as they can get away with it. It needs other parties to fill that void and, most crucially, people to vote for them from both sides to drag those two parties back into the centre and prevent unfettered left/right wing lunacy while in govt.

I prefer corbyns stance re: Brexit. I dont get what all the issue with asking him hes remain or leave. He said what the policy us:
A) Negotiate a new deal
B) Referendum on that deal or remain making it legally binding
C) he will implement the outcome of that.

I'd say it's better to give the information out, stand back and let the people decide, and respecting that more informed decision. Than campaigning and nailing your colours to the mast, putting yourself in a position where you lose and cannot continue like cameron, or perceived to be the smug winner pissing off those that dont agree. Especially when things are so divided.

Agreed. I don't get the obsession over what his personal stance is when he has repeatedly said its down to the will of the party not his personal preference. Surely thats what a party leader should do by default or is the preference to have some sort of dictatorship?

Then the independent report will come back and not recommend integration won’t it?

Very bizarre take to withhold your vote because someone wants a report writing.

Personally I’m glad my own deal breaker wasn’t in there. Lots of noise about removing anonymity online, which is a terrible policy and would lead to me leaving the party and staying home on polling day. As far as I can tell nothing about it in there.
