Didn't one of those two die? I might be thinking of Mel and Kim. One of Charles and Eddie definitely did, sadly.

I was getting my 80s duos mixed up.

Mel and Kim were a British pop duo, comprising sisters Melanie and Kim Appleby. They achieved success between 1986 and 1988 before Melanie succumbed to cancer.

Cancer took Charles too.

I don't think it should be news, if he is purposely giving an interview could it be if he doesn't think he will get picked for the euros so can have that card if not so Hodgson might feel pressured?

Either that, or it is a "we are going to out you anyway so you may as well talk to us"

Either way, don't see the point. Was this was it was like years ago for black players?

Really Nick, you don't think this is news? It will be trending all over the net and will be discussed on TalkSport to the death. You may not think it should be, but it definitely will be.

Just a quick question, guys: how would people feel if someone was to reveal themselves to be a homosexual on this forum?!?! Would they still be allowed to post?!?! Would they be supported and accepted without prejudice?!?! I'm definitely not on about myself, just anyone who might be gay and post on here, but has never revealed this deep, life-effecting, secret that has been kept hidden for years while they tried to conform to what they - rightly or wrongly - believed was 'normal' by getting married and having children, all the time never feeling comfortable on the path they had chosen and trying to ignore those inner feelings and urges; often silently crying themself to sleep as they struggled with the juxtaposition of the inner turmoil and outward sham! I'm just curious. Thanks in advance!

Race and sexuality are not important. Whats important is the quality of the player. I don't care if a player is gay or straight or black or white, its irrelevant. The media has blown this sorta thing outta proportion. I don't think his teammates will care so why should we? What matters is that they love the game and they're good at what they do

No, I don't think it is or should be. Should be the same as a footballer marries a woman which isn't news.

I know it will be news, I just mean it shouldn't be.

To be fair you didn't really need to be outed as a black player.

Whilst there are still pockets of racism in football, nowhere near as bad as it was, think people be surprised by how, and I hate the word, "inclusive" people are nowadays, though always need to keep an eye on it rearing it's head again.

The rise of UKIP, the golf club wing of BNP a case in point.

Nobody I know bats an eyelid at people being gay nowadays.

To be fair I'm 1/4 black and look pretty much white, so some people do.

Examples include:

Ross Barkley
Ryan Giggs

Adam Lallana is newly married incidentally, so it's either not him or his wife is going to have the shittest honeymoon in recorded history.

I think brightonskyblue did earlier. Wether that's the first time he's mentioned his sexuality when asked on this forum I don't know. Doesn't bother me one iota. Let people be who they are. No gay man has ever affected the way I live my life.
If he'd mentioned he supported Leicester City however......

Don't think that BSB said he was gay, just that when he lived in Brighton gays could walk round town hand in hand and nobody would bat an eyelid.

Might flutter their eyelashes a bit though.

Football has moved on but attitudes haven't. I feel sorry for the poor sod who ever he is.

Total respect to whoever it is. I truly believe in todays society they would be supported with the bonheads being the minority. English football has moved on a lot since the days of Justin Fashunu.

Did anyone see the dispatches programme the other week on homophobia and racism in the football. It's still rife, even In the PL, Brighton fans get a lot of homophobic chants.

This is why even in 2014, it's massive news that a footballer may be gay.

Has it Torch? Has it with racism? Or does it just say it has? I think efforts are being made but still along way to go.

It will be news:
Until more players actually come out whilst still playing
When there are still people saying "what if he is a fringe player?" And thinking a manager might now be forced to include him in the squad.

I only said it could be a theory when thinking of reasons why they would be plastering it all over the sun before a major tournament, along with how somebody might be trying to out him. It was a bit wild I do admit.

Just look at Sol Campbells wild claims a few days ago.

A player who played for England against Denmark Wednesday night is coming out gay on Sunday in an exclusive with The Sun, Cant help but think The Sun caught him out and forced him into it? Got to say total respect to him for doing it but should it really be that big of a news story in 2014? Anyone heard any names of who it is? Adam Lallana is the rumored name on twitter?

Have his lawyers contacted you yet ? £300K should cover it !!

Yes, loads of Cov fans were giving the typical Brighton 'gayboy' chants out last time we were there. It was fucking embarrassing.

Think he has mentioned it before a long time ago although not sure if it was in jest and playing the Brighton stereotype.

Do you need to be good looking to be gay? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
