Looking at so many threads Macca seems to get a lot of stick,I know he is not the player he was,but since his return he has scored some cracking goals and set up many. His injuries have not helped him.He is a fan just like us and I would be so proud if he played at Wembley for us.His dad played with Jimmy Hill for the Coventry City Supporters Club FC
way back in the 60's.It must so frustrating for him when things aren't going well.Robins likes him as he can create something out of nothing.Lets get behind the lad,he is sky blue through and through.
Checkout this out,a couple more goals and he's in front of George Hudson, enough said. top scorers.jpg

Its all about expectation. Some fans just cannot get around the fact that he has lost his pace and has had to change his game. He is frustrating to watch, and the drug rumours don't help.

I always want him to do well and am pleased when he does. It was a dream come true when he came back, but it must be hard to play, knowing the high esteem that was held for him at the time of his departure.

I think his first spell at the club is viewed with rose-tinted spectacles in comparison to the second. He was young, scoring for fun, full of energy. When he came back he just wasn't that player any more. Whether that was to do with the management (Aidy Boothroyd's 'style' isn't exactly wide-man friendly, and Andy Thorn's style wasn't one with tempo) or his declining fitness I'm not sure. He wasn't helped by his reputation outside of the footballing environment either.

Divides opinion like no other. Against Preston i had someone telling his mate next to me how well he was playing whilst behind me someone was bellowing till red in the face about McSheff being the biggest C*nt on a football pitch he's ever seen !!

He should change nothing but his name. Change it to Cody do nothing at all and some people will still say he has potential.

Drug rumours? I haven't heard this.

Im not his biggest fan! I do think hes shielded by the 'Cov Kid' status he has when it comes to fans not wanting to be critical of him!

He's not the player he once was (before his 'big money move' to Brum), and to think hes only 29 (I think) he lost his pace, and ability pretty damn quickly!

He's league one standard at best and has been for a number of years! Luckily we have him.......in league one!

Even this season hes been inconsistant, but has been better in more games than he has been worse!

Dion was the only player out of that lot to score his goals in the top flight. That he is disliked by so many fans is the bigger mystery.

So he moved to Villa - get over it.

As I said on another thread, this the exact same reason a lot of people slate him. He's from cov, if he cared he'd try harder, play better, shoot straighter, tackle harder, score more, assist more, cross better, run faster......

He isn't the player he was, but he's a decent player in this league and is just as hit or miss as others in the squad.

It wasn't the move as much as him trying to convince our better players to leave...Which they did.... Left a bit of a bad taste in everyones mouths after that debacle.

I agree it happens but I can't see why that should make him a better player. Just because your not from the City of the club you play for doesnt mean you put any less effort in. Like Baler! Anyone would think nowadays hes a Cov kid.

the only time ive ever really notice mcsheff get much stick- is on this forum. NOWADAYS he is a frustrating player, in the first half he put 2 cracking balls in, then gave the ball away cheapily and put a shit ball in 2 minutes later. People never seem to accept that creative/attacking players, will give the ball away and not every pass he plays will create something. He is a cut above in this league, lots of my non-cov supporting friends always have said that hes a good player when theyve watched cov play. Hes not the same player that left us unfortunately, he will always be judged by his goals based on his first stint. And everyone overlooks the fact that hes not a fucking midfielder, he has and always will be a striker, when thorn stook him up there last season he scored 4 in 6, then thorn brought nimley in and dropped mcsheff back.......
The drug rumours have been overplayed completley, mcsheff has always been accused of being involved by brum and our fans.. from my knowledge he sniffed a bit when he was younger, but so did Robbie Keane and nobody banged on about it. A lot of this hearsay bullshit is jealousy, Ive got friends who went to school with jordan clarke and they always tell the most bullshit farcical stories about him, simply through jealousy

I don't dislike him at all

Just think he played shore on Saturday and hate his needless fouls

The question is why does criticism of a Cov kid led to threads like this

Equality people!

I like sheffers and I do believe he is a good player but he has not had more than like 2 good games this season. He has been shocking. He has 10 good minutes at the start of games and then is crap. He does show great commitment but that doesn't make him good. I would drop him for a while he needs to get some form. There is also the fact that he has scored just 2 goals this season.

How do you get form by sitting on your arse?

Sadly 2 goals in something like 29 games this season is poor considering he's an attacking midfielder. Baker, Moussa and Fleck all have more from similar positions.

Fleck doesn't.

Good player at the moment with some extremely good quality toches and assist. dangerous and can make things happen. Not quite the player he was but in this league very good and performances have shown that now. expect he will get even better as the season drags on too and he will chip in with a few goals.

Fans loved him before he left for blues, it went down hill since there. He is liked now but not loved.
