Wasps on 4:04

Unbelieveable if true.

Big if! Can't see where the money is coming from, they had to hand out tickets like confetti to fill the Ricoh and even then interest tailed off.

Some nice projects on that vid though. I live 10-15 min walk to that first one on the list Eco Park, looking forward to it completing. I will be heading there when Cov aren't playing

Some nice Stadia in that video, and Villa, Wasps and Leicester’s are shite.

Wasps stuggled to sell tickets at the CBS (32,500) how do they think they’ll sell a 28,000 seater, the CBS literally bankrupted them. They should have gone for a 18k-20k

Unless I’m missing something Barnet are planning to move stadium.

Why don’t they look at the hive stadium. Expansion room and back in North London. Barnet appear to be owners so could sell the ground to facilitate the new one?

Wasps aren't building anything.

Thanks for sharing. I do love hearing about football stadiums, their history, rebuilds and new developments!

Their does seems to be a move away from the “bowl” fad of 20/25 years ago, to a more thoughtful and unique design.

I wonder what the CBS would look like if it was conceived now?

You do know how old that is don't you?
Any progress?
None.
And as for a potential re-start next season...

It was, as the article I quoted made clear, always going to take time to get a new stadium built. I would doubt, even if things are going well, that they are yet in a position to submit a planning application.

I read that, as part of their desire to be in the second tier from next season, they were hoping to agree a multi-year ground sharing agreement. I haven’t heard anything more about that and assume it isn’t happening yet.

Good. I don’t wish to see them return.

No, it's not happening.
It's bad enough that Worcester have been resurrected with very little sanction and plonked into the Championship for 25/26 without Wasps too.
Holland is up to his balls in Worcester now, so it's hard to see how he could bring Wasps back from the dead too (fingers crossed).

If this goes ahead Wasps will effectively be a brand new club, albeit bearing an old name. I don't think they should be allowed to join the rugby pyramid at anything higher than National League 2 and arguably they should start lower than that.

I expect they will go straight into the Premiership 😡

Seems like a non-starter to me. The cost to get a relatively small number of extra seats in would be insanely high.

And there's already questions being asked on how the local infrastructure could cope with bigger crowds.

They played a season at Wembley before didn't they? Or at least the CL games

But take your point on actually going ahead with changes to emirates

I agree it seems an awful lot of money for the small amount of seats they will gain. It is in keeping with the thread though.

I know White Hart Lane probably needed updating a bit but how much did the rebuild there cost for approximately an extra 20,000 seats, £1bn?

Maybe but its probably one of the best places to watch football in the UK (although its Spurs) and to keep it where the old one was is a massive bonus. Plus they can can do more concerts and it is the only certified "NFL ready" stadium outside the USA so they can just roll the NFL pitch out. The 2 NFL games every year must be a massive revenue generator, plus shitloads of hospitality options which suits the touristy nature of London clubs
