Don't like the idea of playing Grimes further forward at all.

He needs to stay where he is, but desperately needs help around him.

I do know what you mean but I don't think we have anyone else who can do it. As I said, we would need to have a third CB and/or play our full backs as defenders rather than second wingers.

Ideally we need to recruit a tough-tackling, ball-winning midfielder.

I agree with this. Our CB's are bad enough with Grimes playing deep. God knows what they'd be like without him there. Oh yeah, I remember.

As I said above, we can't do it without taking other measures to stiffen up the defence but we do need to get more control of midfield.

Are our midfielders being deployed to best effect? Torp is a class player with a goal threat, but really doesn’t look physically capable of playing box to box. And Eccles is so good at breaking up play and keeping things simple, yet is pushed forward just behind the striker? Josh as a partner for Grimes, and Torp further forward has always looked the more obvious choice to me, but Frank is vastly experienced and no doubt has his reasons.

I think some of the problems with Torp were down to BTA, he was practically playing as a second striker so Torp was trying to stay closer to him.

If the WhoScored map of average positions is correct, Torp was actually even further forward than BTA in general!

BTA looked like he was playing play ground football at times with no tactical awareness whatsoever. It was as if he'd been told to run around and make a nuisance of himself. I'm sure he wasn't told this of course.

Honestly think we should be playing something like this away from home.
Have Jay and Milan sit a little further back than they normally would because we have the 2 wingers ahead.

Doesn’t explain how far off the pace he was last night. He looks utterly bereft of confidence. Earlier in the season when he was scoring he hit so many shots and passes first time. Now he takes far to many touches and is tackled before doing anything.

They took their big chances which were a result of pressing our mistakes. We didn't.

I think we created plenty of chances despite looking exposed at the back

When you actually look at it the goals weren’t even down to formation but individual errors and switching off at the start of the second half

We should easily have scored 2 or 3 and then you aren’t losing

We didnt play well, as in, we were tactically outplayed.

However it's true, we could have, and should have, won. Which is why I was so angry last night.

I don't think anyone is saying that, what people are saying is that when we played badly and got the tactics wrong we still created decent chances.

First half, completely overrun. Easily could have been 2 or 3 down. No different to Leicester and Millwall. I genuinely don't know what people are watching.

1-1 Wrights off the line and Ephron off the bar, they were going in earlier in the season, and now they are not
We are also not throwing our bodies in front of everything as we were previously
Also, the 1st goal , JDS should be clearing that off the line

Some bad luck, some poor concentration, and some not trying as hard

The team need to look at themselves this week before it is too late, and begin to turn it around

7 points from the next 3 with a victory over Boro, and everything will look good again

It is, they got into some promising positions but didn't make a single big chance in that first half or in the game at all, both of their big chances were goals. We missed three big chances and still scored twice otherwise.

Disappointing interview where instead of admitting hes got it wrong hes decided to be sarcastic to Gurney.

My issue with his interviews are that rather than talk about what went wrong and discuss the game he becomes incredibly vague and sulky throwing short sharp answers at gurney .

Fact is i dont think frank is the sort of bloke to say , we got got it wrong

Its now become mental this obsession to leave Grimes with ZERO help.

Its no conincidence Grimes has looked average for 2 months.

In sayijg that this system looks better with Rudoni as a 10....as he will get significantly more of the ball and helps defensiveky significantly more than a car crash of a formation with Asante in no 10.

Yeah people keep saying Grimes legs have gone.

He is usually having to try and defend counter attacks with Thomas and Kitching (or other CBs) when everybody else is literally too far forward.

With Grimes when he moves forward into the opposition half with purpose he looks good, he really needs that bit of support to enable him to do it. Few tweaks needed on starting positions I think.

It's almost like Lampard and Edwards are trying to re invent the wheel at times. Their strategy of we'll score more than you worked for a while. Now we've been found out it's time for change. Only an idiot does the same thing over and over again when it no longer works.
