Really??? Swansea could of scored 3 or 4 against us on Saturday, they hit the woodwork twice and missed 2 excellent chances, and it took a great save near the end to keep the clean sheet.
Most of the chances were as a result of them opening us up down our right flank.

We got lucky getting a soft pen, a rare effort from Grimes and a deflected shot from Sakamoto. We certainly weren't 3 goals better than them at half time.

The only difference between the 2 teams was the finishing.

Are you replying to the right post?

I was saying we look a much stronger side with FTT. They were all pretty poor in that first half against Swansea, but I wasn't talking about Swansea. I'm talking about the whole picture. Since FTT came in and all the games he's played in.

You didnt link a post to someone saying that.
You've linked a post where someone has included new signings.
You also said 'people' that's plural. You linked one person, who didn't say what you claimed anyway.

3 signings in their first XI. Which is what I said! “We will start with everyone bar Dasilva and Latibeaudiere” I then added Wright who he has but instead replaced Sakamoto.

Do you people even read the things you’re arguing with? I’m getting PTSD back to Sisu times here. I swear this is a website for people with reading and memory issues and not a Coventry fans forum at all.

The amount of time spent recapping posts everyone can read on the last few pages.

The post that started all this. Nothing about 3 signings

Nah you’re alright. It’s too entertaining watching you all refuse to accept we’ll need to sign players to play in the best league on the planet.

A couple of extracts from the post you claimed proved people refused to accept we needed signings

I think it’s clear we will sign players. I just wouldn’t expect the majority of our starting 11 to be different to this season

Any suggestions for the CB? Imagine you’d want someone with prem experience in all the above starting roles

Actually this is the post that started it all:

Right, so the SBT consensus is now that we’ll be starting next season with basically everyone bar Dasilva and Latibeaudiere?

(Dasilva and Latibeaudiere is two players from the starting XI just in case you need that spelling out too)

Then we had FP soil himself again by linking to a post from me in preseason saying we needed about 9 players for the upcoming season as a reason o should “sit this one out”. Then the post you think started it.

Then I updated to:

Well in this thread we have Onyeka and Grimes are starting. Elsewhere the same people are telling me EMC and Sakamoto don’t need replacing. Generally I’ve seen MvE Thomas Rudoni don’t either. I guess you could say Haji Wright hasn’t been mentioned either so that’s three of the current starting eleven I haven’t had absolute head loss from the usual suspects on here for suggesting we need to upgrade.

So as I said the claim was only 3 of the starting XI needed upgrading. Which you asked me to evidence then Goblin obliged by posting exactly that.

Back on Onyeka. Weren’t we in for Eric Martel before?

Wonder if that’s one we’ll revisit as out of contract in the summer and seems a good prospect based on stats. Could be a good back up option and can play CB.

Agreed. Onyeka will start, MvE, Rudi, EMC and maybe Thomas if we don’t sign better. Think we don’t get Rushworth, sign new GK/CB/CM/LB/RW/ST to start.

Not sure if we go with Eccles at AM again, so can see us going to an AM and a LW as well as we’ll have no cover and they’re high energy positions. Then it’s whether the likes of Woolfenden, Kitching, Torp, Simms, BTA want to stick about or we get offers. I can see a couple going and us replacing them in the squad.

Figures from my ass:
GK: 15-20m
ST: 15-20m
CB: 10m
CM: 10m
RW: 10m
LB: 10m
AM: 5m
CB: 5m
ST: 5m
LW: 5m

Some will be free or loan some will be more but that’s £100m ish on 10 players across the squad.

Gives you:

GK/Dovin/Wilson
MvE/KKH
Thomas/CB
CB/Kitching
LB/Dasilva
Onyeka/Torp
CM/Grimes
Rudi/AM/Eccles
RW/Markelo
EMC/LW
ST/Wright/ST

Sell: Lats, Woolf, Brau, Bidwell, Sakamoto, Simms, BTA

Id be delighted if we spent 100 million

Its all exciting though , brand new and a learning curve , the fact lampard has been there before as both player and coach is a huge plus for us

People said it was like a training game against preston but it felt that agaisnt swansea second half too , i think we are simlply a level above these sides , i think we can personally start next season with

MVE
Thomas
EMC
Rudoni
Onyeka

And rushworth if we fluke it

I may be wrong but i also think wright will do a job but a new striker will come no doubt

Part of me doesnt want a brand new 11 as i think it will be detrimental

I have a feeling Sakamoto might thrive not getting punted into the air weekly, yes he has one move but it's a hell of a move, definitely an option off the bench for me.

Also think Grimes might do better than people imagine, he is calm on the ball, will have to deal with physical athletes but we've seen smaller CM players do ok in recent years

Yeah, you would think so.

I think the possibles for being able to make a decent go of it in the Premier are ...

Wright, Rushworth, MVE, Onyeka, Rudoni, Grimes and EMC

Not sure they all will though.

Most likely are Rushworth, Wright and Onyeka

I too think it will be 5-6 new players in the first team lineup

It was exactly what we needed.

I still can't believe there were some that thought we didn't need any signings. I think January was the pivotal refresh we needed. It isn't always about players that go into the starting XI, although Onyeka has done that. You need a healthier squad. Give some players a break, and push others harder for competition.

Yeah Lampard definitely helps and is why I think we can stay up without the Aunderland or Forest style £200m sort of spending. But I don’t think you tie his hands behind his back with Luton style spending either. Got to give him a fighting chance.

We won't copy Luton.
They had a specific strategy related to financing their new ground.
We don't have that issue.

As Clint said they planned to go down that year, they wanted the money to finance the new ground. They got it badly wrong though now they are in league 1/

All as I can say is that Frank Lampard and his coaching staff have extracted miracles from what he inherited as players. All are performing way above where they were. Now take some average PL players who couldn't get in their respective first teams and see what can be achieved with them too. Don't write off anyone yet

We have got to be clever with Premier League Freebies, loan players, the quality Championship players and unearthed gems abroad when Leicester signed Kante, Mahrez.
