One will be AI. Just a question as to which one.

I am plumping for the one on the Nigerian bench. I reckon the one in the stand yesterday was the real McCoy

He’s back now from AFCON - so expect something to move this week, if any truth.

Alot of money if he might not stay injury free

But if he can he would be great

His injury record so far….
During his first seasons at Brentford, he grappled with securing a regular spot in the first team, often sidelined by injuries, and primarily featuring as a substitute.[12] On 7 August 2023, he signed a new four-year contract, keeping him in west London until 2027.[13] He scored his first goal for the club on 13 April 2024, helping Brentford to a 2–0 league win over Sheffield United to claim their first win in 10 consecutive Premier League games.

I dunno, we are in a weird space transfer wise, the pool of players that are available now and willing to play on the champ but also could potentially do a job if we go up is pretty small. Jan is a sellers market too.

Yep really tough, then if we went the abroad option - how long will it take them to settle.

We need another CM profile, but I also appreciated its really tough and dont want us to just get any old thing.

Just seems like a lot of money that you have little chance of getting back

Assumed Onyeka would be a loan, maybe with an obligation on promotion. I'd imagine he's probably on more than our top earners too?

Perhaps he has been earmarked as a target should we get promoted so a loan with obligation to buy would be my best guess. Useful now and next season

Well Onyeka is younger, vastly more experienced at a better standard.

£7m would be a good deal.

This isn’t the window to buy for resale value, if this is the player we want then the £7m shouldn’t be a stumbling block. Thats basically what we got for Sheaf.

This is a January window like no other for us isn't it? Ordinarily I'd say the invest to improve and resell at a profit would apply and he wouldn't be the right fit. But if £7-8 million gets us promoted to the Premier League, it kind of becomes a bargain overnight doesn't it? For Doug these weeks must be a mix of absolute excitement and fear at how much risk to take. Not decisions I'd be any good at making!

Of course. It couldn't be a transfer rumour without Sheffield United getting their grubby snouts in the trough too. Now they are also apparently interested

A loan with obligation of 7m if promoted makes the most sense. Onyeka will break our wage structure if we sign him permanently now which Doug will not do

Doug must realise that this signing is the basis of next season’s crop , so his 25k a week is going to be exceeded, with the calibre we need to compete properly ?

Its not just the £7m in a player to help us get over the line either, its a player that has played for a team that finished 9th in the PL too. Has bags of PL minutes under his belt, a full season in the bundesliga, and nearly a half century of intl caps to boot. All that, for just a fraction over what we sold the injury prone Sheaf for? Plus we all know the extra FL gets out of the midfielders. He could push Onyeka to the next level. It almost seems a no-brainer of a signing to me.
