what if lampard came in and had someone like Michael Doyle come in to join the coaching staff, that could work, someone who knows the club, think he had Jody morris and Eddie newton with him at Chelsea, can’t see if it is lampard he keeps the current coaching team the same, but as someone’s already said the new set up doesn’t allow the new manager to bring in his own staff ?

Is it that they want lampard or that there happy to give him a chance considering can't do anything about robins being sacked?

You’re allowed an opinion. We haven’t appointed anyone yet.

This keeps confusing me. I thought the entire point was you don’t change the staff every time you change head coach.

That's bollocks though. It doesn't happen in the real world.

The point I'm making is I don't know if it's a case of people wanting lampard rather than being glass half full about him as rumours are strong he's coming in. I imagine they would be the same for Bloomfield too etc

Least that's the case for me

Same here, anyone who comes in is a risk, especially if they don’t get any help with players in January, but if I’m watching that 2nd half yesterday I’m not taking over a bad side, there’s a team in there, just needs to find it

True. Robins has gone. However, if Robins went due to us languishing at the bottom of the league then there's no point in appointing someone who, based on their previous record, isn't going to significantly improve our position.

Whoever we appoint will be a gamble but at least try and load the odds in our favour.

The new manager is never going to be a universally popular choice whoever it is, and to be honest a manager's previous history (good or bad) is not often much of an indicator as future success. Some managers are a good fit for certain clubs, but failures at others, only time will tell.

It is therefore important as fans that if it be Lampard, Bloomfield whoever that we give them a chance. Talk of boycotting because of MR's sacking, or because of the selection of a particular manager is ridiculous, and ultimately self-defeating if you want the best for the club (this is not a move to Northampton situation). I say that as someone who wanted MR to stay and have been disgusted by his sacking. At the end of the day though the football club must always come first.

So betting odds and public conversation doesn’t mean it’s true. But because the MSM aren’t all over it makes it not true? Hmm.

if I’m a player I’d be very happy with lampard coming in, look forward to it hopefully in place for the sheff utd game, should be cracking atmosphere hoping the fans get behind whoever it is and they’ll get to see how good a job they’ve got, a lot to be positive about

Sisu wernt shit holders though. Everyone was jealous of our set.up under them remember?

As always not sure if playing the fool, but Sisu didn’t touch the football side. Robins didn’t rock the boat about non-football and they didn’t about football. There were terrible owners in every other respect. Hence me making this meme:

Whether we like him or not, I don’t want us to be like Birmingham or Sunderland last year and ruin everything Robins worked hard to build with the fan base.

You could argue it’s already been done but feel as fans it’s up to us to keep what we can. If it goes to shit, he’ll feck off and we’ll get someone else maybe even Robins

All I’ll say is, if it is frank, I’ll get behind him.
Do I want Frank? Not particularly no. Do I think it makes any sense to not support the man hoping to change our fortunes and get the club I love promoted? Absolutely not.
Unless it’s Russel Slade or some melt like that I’ll get behind them and give them time.

and there is the scenario where lampard is interviewed and doesn’t think it’s right for him, it will be difficult with the current coaching set up, robins didn’t have much of a say anymore so why would lampard ? might not want it

And there's the scenario where Lampard gets even more leeway than Robins had because he's a big name Doug had heard of before he got given a football club.

That’s what I’m thinking, just can’t see lampard agreeing to not having a say in what coaches he gets to work with, heard this aswell yesterday that Doug hasn’t finished paying for the club yet so with having to pay robins off,pay off the current coaches if lampard wants his own sorting that aswell, sacking robins might be costly ?

If Frank Lampard was about to take a new job the MSM would report on it
Yes, national press is confusingly silent given that it is a 'nailed on' 'done deal'. Reports that he was at the match and at the CBS can't be true. If he had really attended a youth game I would have expected a lot more people to have blabbed and the odd sneaky photo. Either way there is clearly a lot of misinformation flying round.

His last two jobs have been poor choices and his next one might be last chance if it goes badly. Replacing a popular manager, unenthusiastic fan base, high expectations(?), leaky back line... I'd forgive him for thinking this isn't the right club at the right time.

I think its a good opportunity for someone if they can make it over the initial bump tbh. Big 1 club city, good fanbase, underperforming squad but definitely plenty to work with and an owner that has shown he will spend on transfers.

Spot on, pressures on straight away for whoever takes it, pretty sure lampard could handle it having had to deal with it as a player and manager, maybe why he’s favourite to get it, personally hope it is

He’s on TV now …. Speaks well on the match and indiv player analysis.

not sure what we can read into him being on TV today. Almost certainly a long standing booking.

I heard that two of the coaches will be going back. Not sure if true but think the new Head coach will get a assistant and a new coach. I think USSskyblue noted that Chris Ramsey was going to replace one so think theres a good chance. No chance Lampard comes without his number two.

Yeah will just be a long term booking plus doubt anything gets done today with the international break. If hes signed it happened yesterday and if he's going to itll be tomorrow morning so there is less sting in the fan forum for Doug.

Doyle’s been at the last 2 games , if I’m the new coach I’d want someone in who knows the club, mcfadzean defensive coach 😉
